תהילים 21-30

לַמְנַצֵּחַ מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד׃

Lamnatzei'ach, mizmor leDavid.

For the leader. A psalm of David.

יְהוָה בְּעָזְּךָ יִשְׂמַח־מֶלֶךְ וּבִישׁוּעָתְךָ מַה־יָּגֶל מְאֹד׃

Adonai be'ozcha yismach melech, uvishu'atcha ma yagel me'od.

O LORD, the king rejoices in Your strength; how greatly he exults in Your victory!

תַּאֲוַת לִבּוֹ נָתַתָּה לּוֹ וַאֲרֶשֶׁת שְׂפָתָיו בַּל־מָנַעְתָּ סֶּלָה׃

Ta'avat libo natata lo, va'areshet sefatav bal manata, sela.

You have granted him his heart's desire; You have not denied the request of his lips. Selah.

כִּי־תְקַדְּמֶנּוּ בִּרְכוֹת טוֹב תָּשִׁית לְרֹאשׁוֹ עֲטֶרֶת פָּז׃

Ki tekadmenu birchot tov, tashit lerosho ateret paz.

You have welcomed him with blessings of good things, have set upon his head a crown of fine gold.

חַיִּים שָׁאַל מִמְּךָ נָתַתָּה לּוֹ אֹרֶךְ יָמִים עוֹלָם וָעֶד׃

Chayim sha'al mimcha, natata lo, orech yamim olam va'ed.

He asked You for life; You gave it to him—length of days forever and ever.

גָּדוֹל כְּבוֹדוֹ בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ הוֹד וְהָדָר תְּשַׁוֶּה עָלָיו׃

Gadol kevodo bishu'atecha, hod vehadar teshave alav.

Great is his glory through Your victory; You have conferred upon him splendor and majesty.

כִּי־תְשִׁיתֵהוּ בְרָכוֹת לָעַד תְּחַדֵּהוּ בְשִׂמְחָה אֶת־פָּנֶיךָ׃

Ki teshitehu verachot la'ad, techadeihu vesimcha et panecha.

You have made him blessed forever, gladdened him with the joy of Your presence.

כִּי־הַמֶּלֶךְ בֹּטֵחַ בַּיהוָה וּבְחֶסֶד עֶלְיוֹן בַּל־יִמּוֹט׃

Ki hamelech bote'ach baAdonai, uvechesed elyon bal yimot.

For the king trusts in the LORD; through the faithfulness of the Most High he will not be shaken.

תִּמְצָא יָדְךָ לְכָל־אֹיְבֶיךָ יְמִינְךָ תִּמְצָא שֹׂנְאֶיךָ׃

Timtza yadcha lechol oyvecha, yemincha timtza son'echa.

Your hand will find all Your enemies; Your right hand will find Your foes.

תְּשִׁיתֵמוֹ כְּתַנּוּר אֵשׁ לְעֵת פָּנֶיךָ יְהוָה בְּאַפּוֹ יְבַלְּעֵם וְתֹאכְלֵם אֵשׁ׃

Teshitemo ketanur esh le'et panecha, Adonai be'apo yeval'em vetochlem esh.

You will make them like a fiery furnace at the time of Your presence; the LORD in His anger will consume them; fire will devour them.

פִּרְיָמוֹ מֵאֶרֶץ תְּאַבֵּד וְזַרְעָם מִבְּנֵי אָדָם׃

Piryamo me'eretz te'abed, vezar'am mibnei adam.

You will destroy their offspring from the earth, their posterity from among men.

כִּי־נָטוּ עָלֶיךָ רָעָה חָשְׁבוּ מְזִמָּה בַּל־יוּכָלוּ׃

Ki natu alecha ra'a, chashvu mezima bal yuchalu.

For they have plotted evil against You; they have devised schemes, but will not prevail.

כִּי תְּשִׁיתֵמוֹ שֶׁכֶם בְּמֵיתָרֶיךָ תְּכוֹנֵן עַל־פְּנֵיהֶם׃

Ki teshitemo shechem, bemetarecha techonen al peneihem.

For You will make them turn their backs; You will aim Your bow at their faces.

רוּמָה יְהוָה בְּעֻזֶּךָ נָשִׁירָה וּנְזַמְּרָה גְּבוּרָתֶךָ׃

Ruma Adonai be'uzecha, nashira unezamera gevuratecha.

Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength; we will sing and chant the praises of Your might.

לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל־אַיֶּלֶת הַשַּׁחַר מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד׃

Lamnatzei'ach al ayelet hashachar, mizmor leDavid.

For the leader; on ayelet hashachar. A psalm of David.

אֵלִי אֵלִי לָמָה עֲזַבְתָּנִי רָחוֹק מִישׁוּעָתִי דִּבְרֵי שַׁאֲגָתִי׃

Eli Eli lama azavtani, rachok mishu'ati divrei sha'agati.

My God, my God, why have You abandoned me; why so far from delivering me and from my anguished roaring?

אֱלֹהַי אֶקְרָא יוֹמָם וְלֹא תַעֲנֶה וְלַיְלָה וְלֹא־דֻמִיָּה לִי׃

Elohai ekra yomam velo ta'aneh, velayla velo dumiya li.

My God, I cry by day—You answer not; by night, and have no respite.

וְאַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ יוֹשֵׁב תְּהִלּוֹת יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

Ve'ata kadosh, yoshev tehilot Yisrael.

But You are the Holy One, enthroned upon the praises of Israel.

בְּךָ בָּטְחוּ אֲבֹתֵינוּ בָּטְחוּ וַתְּפַלְּטֵמוֹ׃

Becha batchu avoteinu, batchu vatfaletemo.

In You our fathers trusted; they trusted, and You rescued them.

אֵלֶיךָ זָעֲקוּ וְנִמְלָטוּ בְּךָ בָטְחוּ וְלֹא־בוֹשׁוּ׃

Elecha za'aku venimlatu, becha vatchu velo voshu.

To You they cried out and they escaped; in You they trusted and were not disappointed.

וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא־אִישׁ חֶרְפַּת אָדָם וּבְזוּי עָם׃

Ve'anochi tola'at velo ish, cherpat adam uvzui am.

But I am a worm, less than human; scorned by men, despised by people.

כָּל־רֹאַי יַלְעִגוּ לִי יַפְטִירוּ בְשָׂפָה יָנִיעוּ רֹאשׁ׃

Kol ro'ai yal'igu li, yaftiru vesafa yani'u rosh.

All who see me mock me; they curl their lips, they shake their heads.

גֹּל אֶל־יְהוָה יְפַלְּטֵהוּ יַצִּילֵהוּ כִּי חָפֵץ בּוֹ׃

Gol el Adonai yefaltehu, yatzilehu ki chafetz bo.

"Let him commit himself to the LORD; let Him rescue him, let Him save him, for He is pleased with him."

כִּי־אַתָּה גֹחִי מִבָּטֶן מַבְטִיחִי עַל־שְׁדֵי אִמִּי׃

Ki ata gochi mibaten, mavtichi al shedei imi.

You drew me from the womb, made me secure at my mother's breast.

עָלֶיךָ הָשְׁלַכְתִּי מֵרָחֶם מִבֶּטֶן אִמִּי אֵלִי אָתָּה׃

Alecha hashlachti merachem, mibeten imi Eli ata.

I became Your charge at birth; from my mother's womb You have been my God.

אַל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי כִּי־צָרָה קְרוֹבָה כִּי־אֵין עוֹזֵר׃

Al tirchak mimeni ki tzara kerova, ki ein ozer.

Do not be far from me, for trouble is near, and there is none to help.

סְבָבוּנִי פָּרִים רַבִּים אַבִּירֵי בָשָׁן כִּתְּרוּנִי׃

Sevavuni parim rabim, abirei Vashan kitruni.

Many bulls surround me, mighty ones of Bashan encircle me.

פָּצוּ עָלַי פִּיהֶם אַרְיֵה טֹרֵף וְשֹׁאֵג׃

Patzu alai pihem, arye toref vesho'eg.

They open their mouths at me like tearing, roaring lions.

כַּמַּיִם נִשְׁפַּכְתִּי וְהִתְפָּרְדוּ כָּל־עַצְמוֹתָי הָיָה לִבִּי כַּדּוֹנָג נָמֵס בְּתוֹךְ מֵעָי׃

Kamayim nishpachti vehitparedu kol atzmotai, haya libi kadonag names betoch me'ai.

My life ebbs away; all my bones are disjointed; my heart is like wax, melting within me.

יָבֵשׁ כַּחֶרֶשׂ כֹּחִי וּלְשׁוֹנִי מֻדְבָּק מַלְקוֹחָי וְלַעֲפַר־מָוֶת תִּשְׁפְּתֵנִי׃

Yavesh kacheres kochi, ulshoni mudbak malkochai, vela'afar mavet tishpeteni.

My vigor dries up like a shard; my tongue cleaves to my palate; You commit me to the dust of death.

כִּי סְבָבוּנִי כְּלָבִים עֲדַת מְרֵעִים הִקִּיפוּנִי כָּאֲרִי יָדַי וְרַגְלָי׃

Ki sevavuni kelavim, adat mere'im hikifuni, ka'ari yadai veraglai.

Dogs surround me; a pack of evil ones closes in on me, like lions [they maul] my hands and feet.

אֲסַפֵּר כָּל־עַצְמוֹתָי הֵמָּה יַבִּיטוּ יִרְאוּ־בִי׃

Asaper kol atzmotai, hema yabitu yir'u vi.

I can count all my bones; they stare and gloat over me.

יְחַלְּקוּ בְגָדַי לָהֶם וְעַל־לְבוּשִׁי יַפִּילוּ גוֹרָל׃

Yechalku vegadai lahem, ve'al levushi yapilu goral.

They divide my clothes among themselves, casting lots for my garments.

וְאַתָּה יְהוָה אַל־תִּרְחָק אֱיָלוּתִי לְעֶזְרָתִי חוּשָׁה׃

Ve'ata Adonai al tirchak, eyaluti le'ezrati chusha.

But You, O LORD, do not be far; my strength, hasten to my aid!

הַצִּילָה מֵחֶרֶב נַפְשִׁי מִיַּד־כֶּלֶב יְחִידָתִי׃

Hatzila mecherev nafshi, miyad kelev yechidati.

Save my life from the sword, my precious life from the clutches of a dog.

הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי מִפִּי אַרְיֵה וּמִקַּרְנֵי רֵמִים עֲנִיתָנִי׃

Hoshi'eni mipi arye, umikarnei remim anitani.

Deliver me from the mouth of a lion; from the horns of wild oxen rescue me.

אֲסַפְּרָה שִׁמְךָ לְאֶחָי בְּתוֹךְ קָהָל אֲהַלְלֶךָּ׃

Asapera shimcha le'echai, betoch kahal ahaleleka.

I will tell of Your name to my brethren, praise You in the midst of the congregation.

יִרְאֵי יְהוָה הַלְלוּהוּ כָּל־זֶרַע יַעֲקֹב כַּבְּדוּהוּ וְגוּרוּ מִמֶּנּוּ כָּל־זֶרַע יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

Yir'ei Adonai haleluhu, kol zera Ya'akov kab'duhu, veguru mimenu kol zera Yisrael.

You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you offspring of Jacob, honor Him! Be in dread of Him, all you offspring of Israel!

כִּי לֹא־בָזָה וְלֹא שִׁקַּץ עֱנוּת עָנִי וְלֹא־הִסְתִּיר פָּנָיו מִמֶּנּוּ וּבְשַׁוְּעוֹ אֵלָיו שָׁמֵעַ׃

Ki lo vaza velo shiketz enut ani, velo histir panav mimenu, uveshav'o elav shame'a.

For He did not scorn, He did not spurn the plea of the lowly; He did not hide His face from him; when he cried out to Him, He listened.

מֵאִתְּךָ תְהִלָּתִי בְּקָהָל רָב נְדָרַי אֲשַׁלֵּם נֶגֶד יְרֵאָיו׃

Me'itcha tehilati bekahal rav, nedarai ashalem neged yere'av.

Because of You I offer praise in the great congregation; I pay my vows in the presence of His worshipers.

יֹאכְלוּ עֲנָוִים וְיִשְׂבָּעוּ יְהַלְלוּ יְהוָה דֹּרְשָׁיו יְחִי לְבַבְכֶם לָעַד׃

Yochlu anavim veyisba'u, yehalelu Adonai dorshav, yechi levavechem la'ad.

Let the lowly eat and be satisfied; let all who seek the LORD praise Him. May your hearts be revived forever!

יִזְכְּרוּ וְיָשֻׁבוּ אֶל־יְהוָה כָּל־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְפָנֶיךָ כָּל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹת גּוֹיִם׃

Yizkeru veyashuvu el Adonai kol afsei aretz, veyishtachavu lefanecha kol mishpechot goyim.

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD; all the families of nations shall bow down before You.

כִּי לַיהוָה הַמְּלוּכָה וּמֹשֵׁל בַּגּוֹיִם׃

Ki laAdonai hamelucha, umoshel bagoyim.

For kingship is the LORD's; He rules the nations.

אָכְלוּ וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ כָּל־דִּשְׁנֵי־אֶרֶץ לְפָנָיו יִכְרְעוּ כָּל־יוֹרְדֵי עָפָר וְנַפְשׁוֹ לֹא חִיָּה׃

Achlu vayishtachavu kol dishnei eretz, lefanav yichre'u kol yordei afar, venafesho lo chiya.

All the fat ones of the earth shall eat and bow down; all who go down to the dust shall kneel before Him, whose own life has not survived.

זֶרַע יַעַבְדֶנּוּ יְסֻפַּר לַאדֹנָי לַדּוֹר׃

Zera ya'avdenu, yesupar laAdonai lador.

Offspring shall serve Him; the Lord's fame shall be proclaimed to the generation

יָבֹאוּ וְיַגִּידוּ צִדְקָתוֹ לְעַם נוֹלָד כִּי עָשָׂה׃

Yavo'u veyagidu tzidkato le'am nolad ki asa.

to come; they shall tell of His beneficence to people yet to be born, for He has acted.

מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד יְהוָה רֹעִי לֹא אֶחְסָר׃

Mizmor leDavid. Adonai ro'i lo echsar.

A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I lack nothing.

בִּנְאוֹת דֶּשֶׁא יַרְבִּיצֵנִי עַל־מֵי מְנֻחוֹת יְנַהֲלֵנִי׃

Bin'ot deshe yarbitzeni, al mei menuchot yenahaleni.

He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me to water in places of repose.

נַפְשִׁי יְשׁוֹבֵב יַנְחֵנִי בְמַעְגְּלֵי־צֶדֶק לְמַעַן שְׁמוֹ׃

Nafshi yeshovev, yancheni vema'agelei tzedek lema'an shemo.

He renews my life; He guides me in right paths as befits His name.

גַּם כִּי־אֵלֵךְ בְּגֵיא צַלְמָוֶת לֹא־אִירָא רָע כִּי־אַתָּה עִמָּדִי שִׁבְטְךָ וּמִשְׁעַנְתֶּךָ הֵמָּה יְנַחֲמֻנִי׃

Gam ki elech begei tzalmavet, lo ira ra ki ata imadi, shivtecha umish'antecha hema yenachamuni.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no harm, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff—they comfort me.

תַּעֲרֹךְ לְפָנַי שֻׁלְחָן נֶגֶד צֹרְרָי דִּשַּׁנְתָּ בַשֶּׁמֶן רֹאשִׁי כּוֹסִי רְוָיָה׃

Ta'aroch lefanai shulchan neged tzorerai, dishanta vashemen roshi, kosi revaya.

You spread a table for me in full view of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

אַךְ טוֹב וָחֶסֶד יִרְדְּפוּנִי כָּל־יְמֵי חַיָּי וְשַׁבְתִּי בְּבֵית־יְהוָה לְאֹרֶךְ יָמִים׃

Ach tov vachesed yirdefuni kol yemei chayai, veshavti beveit Adonai le'orech yamim.

Only goodness and steadfast love shall pursue me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for many long years.

לְדָוִד מִזְמוֹר לַיהוָה הָאָרֶץ וּמְלוֹאָהּ תֵּבֵל וְיֹשְׁבֵי בָהּ׃

LeDavid mizmor. LaAdonai ha'aretz umelo'a, tevel veyoshvei va.

A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD's and all that it holds, the world and its inhabitants.

כִּי־הוּא עַל־יַמִּים יְסָדָהּ וְעַל־נְהָרוֹת יְכוֹנְנֶהָ׃

Ki hu al yamim yesada, ve'al neharot yechoneneha.

For He founded it upon the seas, set it on the streams.

מִי־יַעֲלֶה בְהַר־יְהוָה וּמִי־יָקוּם בִּמְקוֹם קָדְשׁוֹ׃

Mi ya'ale vehar Adonai, umi yakum bimkom kodsho?

Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in His holy place?

נְקִי כַפַּיִם וּבַר־לֵבָב אֲשֶׁר לֹא־נָשָׂא לַשָּׁוְא נַפְשִׁי וְלֹא נִשְׁבַּע לְמִרְמָה׃

Neki chapayim uvar levav, asher lo nasa lashav nafshi, velo nishba lemirma.

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not taken a false oath by My life or sworn deceitfully.

יִשָּׂא בְרָכָה מֵאֵת יְהוָה וּצְדָקָה מֵאֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעוֹ׃

Yisa veracha me'et Adonai, utzdaka me'Elohei yish'o.

He shall carry away a blessing from the LORD, a just reward from God, his deliverer.

זֶה דּוֹר דֹּרְשָׁיו מְבַקְשֵׁי פָנֶיךָ יַעֲקֹב סֶלָה׃

Ze dor dorshav, mevakshei fanecha Ya'akov, sela.

Such is the generation of those who turn to Him, who seek Your presence, O Jacob. Selah.

שְׂאוּ שְׁעָרִים רָאשֵׁיכֶם וְהִנָּשְׂאוּ פִּתְחֵי עוֹלָם וְיָבוֹא מֶלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד׃

Se'u she'arim rasheichem, vehinase'u pitchei olam, veyavo Melech haKavod.

O gates, lift up your heads! Up high, you everlasting doors, so the King of glory may come in!

מִי זֶה מֶלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד יְהוָה עִזּוּז וְגִבּוֹר יְהוָה גִּבּוֹר מִלְחָמָה׃

Mi ze Melech haKavod? Adonai izuz vegibor, Adonai gibor milchama.

Who is the King of glory? The LORD, mighty and valiant, the LORD, valiant in battle.

שְׂאוּ שְׁעָרִים רָאשֵׁיכֶם וּשְׂאוּ פִּתְחֵי עוֹלָם וְיָבֹא מֶלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד׃

Se'u she'arim rasheichem, use'u pitchei olam, veyavo Melech haKavod.

O gates, lift up your heads! Lift them up, you everlasting doors, so the King of glory may come in!

מִי הוּא זֶה מֶלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת הוּא מֶלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד סֶלָה׃

Mi hu ze Melech haKavod? Adonai Tzeva'ot, Hu Melech haKavod, sela.

Who is the King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory! Selah.

לְדָוִד אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה נַפְשִׁי אֶשָּׂא׃

LeDavid. Elecha Adonai nafshi esa.

Of David. O LORD, I set my hope on You;

אֱלֹהַי בְּךָ בָטַחְתִּי אַל־אֵבוֹשָׁה אַל־יַעַלְצוּ אֹיְבַי לִי׃

Elohai becha vatachti, al evosha, al ya'altzu oyvai li.

my God, in You I trust; may I not be disappointed, may my enemies not exult over me.

גַּם כָּל־קֹוֶיךָ לֹא יֵבֹשׁוּ יֵבֹשׁוּ הַבּוֹגְדִים רֵיקָם׃

Gam kol kovecha lo yevoshu, yevoshu habogdim reikam.

O let none who look to You be disappointed; let the faithless be disappointed, empty-handed.

דְּרָכֶיךָ יְהוָה הוֹדִיעֵנִי אֹרְחוֹתֶיךָ לַמְּדֵנִי׃

Derachecha Adonai hodi'eni, orchotecha lamedeni.

Let me know Your paths, O LORD; teach me Your ways;

הַדְרִיכֵנִי בַאֲמִתֶּךָ וְלַמְּדֵנִי כִּי־אַתָּה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעִי אוֹתְךָ קִוִּיתִי כָּל־הַיּוֹם׃

Hadricheni va'amitecha velamedeni, ki ata Elohei yish'i, otcha kiviti kol hayom.

guide me in Your true way and teach me, for You are God, my deliverer; it is You I look to at all times.

זְכֹר־רַחֲמֶיךָ יְהוָה וַחֲסָדֶיךָ כִּי מֵעוֹלָם הֵמָּה׃

Zechor rachamecha Adonai vachasadecha, ki me'olam hema.

O LORD, be mindful of Your compassion and Your faithfulness; they are old as time.

חַטֹּאות נְעוּרַי וּפְשָׁעַי אַל־תִּזְכֹּר כְּחַסְדְּךָ זְכָר־לִי־אַתָּה לְמַעַן טוּבְךָ יְהוָה׃

Chatot ne'urai ufsha'ai al tizkor, kechasdecha zechar li ata, lema'an tuvcha Adonai.

Be not mindful of my youthful sins and transgressions; in keeping with Your faithfulness consider what is in my favor, as befits Your goodness, O LORD.

טוֹב־וְיָשָׁר יְהוָה עַל־כֵּן יוֹרֶה חַטָּאִים בַּדָּרֶךְ׃

Tov veyashar Adonai, al ken yoreh chata'im badarech.

Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way.

יַדְרֵךְ עֲנָוִים בַּמִּשְׁפָּט וִילַמֵּד עֲנָוִים דַּרְכּוֹ׃

Yadrech anavim bamishpat, vilamed anavim darko.

He guides the lowly in the right path, and teaches the lowly His way.

כָּל־אָרְחוֹת יְהוָה חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת לְנֹצְרֵי בְרִיתוֹ וְעֵדֹתָיו׃

Kol orchot Adonai chesed ve'emet, lenotzrei verito ve'edotav.

All the LORD's paths are steadfast love for those who keep the decrees of His covenant.

לְמַעַן־שִׁמְךָ יְהוָה וְסָלַחְתָּ לַעֲוֺנִי כִּי רַב־הוּא׃

Lema'an shimcha Adonai, vesalachta la'avoni ki rav hu.

As befits Your name, O LORD, pardon my iniquity though it be great.

מִי־זֶה הָאִישׁ יְרֵא יְהוָה יוֹרֶנּוּ בְּדֶרֶךְ יִבְחָר׃

Mi ze ha'ish yere Adonai, yorenu bederech yivchar.

Whoever fears the LORD, he shall be shown what path to choose.

נַפְשׁוֹ בְּטוֹב תָּלִין וְזַרְעוֹ יִירַשׁ אָרֶץ׃

Nafsho betov talin, vezar'o yirash aretz.

He shall live a happy life, and his offspring shall inherit the land.

סוֹד יְהוָה לִירֵאָיו וּבְרִיתוֹ לְהוֹדִיעָם׃

Sod Adonai lirei'av, uverito lehodi'am.

The counsel of the LORD is for those who fear Him; to them He makes known His covenant.

עֵינַי תָּמִיד אֶל־יְהוָה כִּי הוּא־יוֹצִיא מֵרֶשֶׁת רַגְלָי׃

Einai tamid el Adonai, ki hu yotzi mereshet raglai.

My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for He will loose my feet from the net.

פְּנֵה־אֵלַי וְחָנֵּנִי כִּי־יָחִיד וְעָנִי אָנִי׃

Pene elai vechaneni, ki yachid ve'ani ani.

Turn to me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and afflicted.

צָרוֹת לְבָבִי הִרְחִיבוּ מִמְּצוּקוֹתַי הוֹצִיאֵנִי׃

Tzarot levavi hirchivu, mimetzukotai hotzi'eni.

My heart is full of distress; deliver me from my straits.

רְאֵה עָנְיִי וַעֲמָלִי וְשָׂא לְכָל־חַטֹּאותָי׃

Re'e onyi va'amali, vesa lechol chatotai.

Look at my affliction and suffering, and forgive all my sins.

רְאֵה־אוֹיְבַי כִּי־רָבּוּ וְשִׂנְאַת חָמָס שְׂנֵאוּנִי׃

Re'e oyvai ki rabu, vesin'at chamas sene'uni.

See how many are my foes, how intense their hatred of me!

שָׁמְרָה נַפְשִׁי וְהַצִּילֵנִי אַל־אֵבוֹשׁ כִּי־חָסִיתִי בָךְ׃

Shomra nafshi vehatzilenei, al evosh ki chasiti vach.

Protect me and save me; let me not be disappointed, for I have sought refuge in You.

תֹּם־וָיֹשֶׁר יִצְּרוּנִי כִּי קִוִּיתִיךָ׃

Tom vayosher yitzruni, ki kivitacha.

May integrity and uprightness watch over me, for I look to You.

פְּדֵה אֱלֹהִים אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכֹּל צָרוֹתָיו׃

Pede Elohim et Yisrael mikol tzarotav.

O God, redeem Israel from all its distress.

לְדָוִד שָׁפְטֵנִי יְהוָה כִּי־אֲנִי בְּתֻמִּי הָלַכְתִּי וּבַיהוָה בָּטַחְתִּי לֹא אֶמְעָד׃

LeDavid. Shofteni Adonai ki ani betumi halachti, uvaAdonai batachti lo em'ad.

Of David. Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have walked without blame; I have trusted in the LORD; I have not faltered.

בְּחָנֵנִי יְהוָה וְנַסֵּנִי צרופה [צָרְפָה] כִלְיוֹתַי וְלִבִּי׃

Bechaneni Adonai venaseni, tzorfa chilyotai velibi.

Probe me, O LORD, and try me, test my heart and mind;

כִּי־חַסְדְּךָ לְנֶגֶד עֵינָי וְהִתְהַלַּכְתִּי בַּאֲמִתֶּךָ׃

Ki chasdecha leneged einai, vehit'halachti ba'amitecha.

for Your steadfast love is before my eyes; I have set my course by it.

לֹא־יָשַׁבְתִּי עִם־מְתֵי־שָׁוְא וְעִם נַעֲלָמִים לֹא אָבוֹא׃

Lo yashavti im metei shav, ve'im na'alamim lo avo.

I do not consort with scoundrels, or mix with hypocrites;

שָׂנֵאתִי קְהַל מְרֵעִים וְעִם־רְשָׁעִים לֹא אֵשֵׁב׃

Saneti kehal mere'im, ve'im resha'im lo eshev.

I detest the company of evil men, and will not consort with the wicked.

אֶרְחַץ בְּנִקָּיוֹן כַּפָּי וַאֲסֹבְבָה אֶת־מִזְבַּחֲךָ יְהוָה׃

Erchatz benikyon kapai, va'asoveva et mizbachacha Adonai.

I wash my hands in innocence, and walk around Your altar, O LORD,

לַשְׁמִעַ בְּקוֹל תּוֹדָה וּלְסַפֵּר כָּל־נִפְלְאוֹתֶיךָ׃

Lashmi'a bekol toda, ulesaper kol nifl'otecha.

raising my voice in thanksgiving, telling all Your wonders.

יְהוָה אָהַבְתִּי מְעוֹן בֵּיתֶךָ וּמְקוֹם מִשְׁכַּן כְּבוֹדֶךָ׃

Adonai ahavti me'on beitecha, umekom mishkan kevodecha.

O LORD, I love Your temple abode, the dwelling-place of Your glory.

אַל־תֶּאֱסֹף עִם־חַטָּאִים נַפְשִׁי וְעִם־אַנְשֵׁי דָמִים חַיָּי׃

Al te'esof im chata'im nafshi, ve'im anshei damim chayai.

Do not sweep me away with sinners, or my life with murderers,

אֲשֶׁר־בִּידֵיהֶם זִמָּה וִימִינָם מָלְאָה שֹׁחַד׃

Asher bideihem zima, viminam mal'a shochad.

who have schemes at their fingertips, and their right hands full of bribes.

וַאֲנִי בְּתֻמִּי אֵלֵךְ פְּדֵנִי וְחָנֵּנִי׃

Va'ani betumi elech, pedeni vechaneni.

But I walk without blame; redeem me, have mercy on me!

רַגְלִי עָמְדָה בְמִישׁוֹר בְּמַקְהֵלִים אֲבָרֵךְ יְהוָה׃

Ragli amda vemishor, bemak'helim avarech Adonai.

My feet are on level ground. In assemblies I will bless the LORD.

לְדָוִד יְהוָה אוֹרִי וְיִשְׁעִי מִמִּי אִירָא יְהוָה מָעוֹז־חַיַּי מִמִּי אֶפְחָד׃

LeDavid. Adonai ori veyish'i, mimi ira? Adonai ma'oz chayai, mimi efchad?

Of David. The LORD is my light and my help; whom should I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; whom should I dread?

בִּקְרֹב עָלַי מְרֵעִים לֶאֱכֹל אֶת־בְּשָׂרִי צָרַי וְאֹיְבַי לִי הֵמָּה כָשְׁלוּ וְנָפָלוּ׃

Bikrov alai mere'im le'echol et besari, tzarai ve'oyvai li, hema kashlu venafalu.

When evil men assail me to devour my flesh—it is they, my foes and my enemies, who stumble and fall.

אִם־תַּחֲנֶה עָלַי מַחֲנֶה לֹא־יִירָא לִבִּי אִם־תָּקוּם עָלַי מִלְחָמָה בְּזֹאת אֲנִי בוֹטֵחַ׃

Im tachane alai machane lo yira libi, im takum alai milchama bezot ani vote'ach.

Should an army besiege me, my heart would have no fear; should war beset me, still would I be confident.

אַחַת שָׁאַלְתִּי מֵאֵת־יְהוָה אוֹתָהּ אֲבַקֵּשׁ שִׁבְתִּי בְּבֵית־יְהוָה כָּל־יְמֵי חַיַּי לַחֲזוֹת בְּנֹעַם־יְהוָה וּלְבַקֵּר בְּהֵיכָלוֹ׃

Achat sha'alti me'et Adonai, otah avakesh: shivti beveit Adonai kol yemei chayai, lachazot beno'am Adonai ulevaker beheichalo.

One thing I ask of the LORD, only that do I seek: to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD, to frequent His temple.

כִּי יִצְפְּנֵנִי בְּסֻכֹּה בְּיוֹם רָעָה יַסְתִּרֵנִי בְּסֵתֶר אָהֳלוֹ בְּצוּר יְרוֹמְמֵנִי׃

Ki yitzpeneini besuko beyom ra'a, yastireni beseter aholo, betzur yeromemeni.

He will shelter me in His pavilion on an evil day, grant me the cover of His tent, raise me high upon a rock.

וְעַתָּה יָרוּם רֹאשִׁי עַל אֹיְבַי סְבִיבוֹתַי וְאֶזְבְּחָה בְאָהֳלוֹ זִבְחֵי תְרוּעָה אָשִׁירָה וַאֲזַמְּרָה לַיהוָה׃

Ve'ata yarum roshi al oyvai sevivotai, ve'ezbecha ve'aholo zivchei teru'a, ashira va'azamera laAdonai.

Now is my head high over my enemies roundabout; I sacrifice in His tent with shouts of joy, singing and chanting a hymn to the LORD.

שְׁמַע־יְהוָה קוֹלִי אֶקְרָא וְחָנֵּנִי וַעֲנֵנִי׃

Shema Adonai koli ekra, vechaneni va'aneni.

Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; have mercy on me, answer me.

לְךָ אָמַר לִבִּי בַּקְּשׁוּ פָנָי אֶת־פָּנֶיךָ יְהוָה אֲבַקֵּשׁ׃

Lecha amar libi: bakshu fanai. Et panecha Adonai avakesh.

In Your behalf my heart says: "Seek My face!" O LORD, I seek Your face.

אַל־תַּסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ מִמֶּנִּי אַל תַּט־בְּאַף עַבְדֶּךָ עֶזְרָתִי הָיִיתָ אַל־תִּטְּשֵׁנִי וְאַל־תַּעַזְבֵנִי אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעִי׃

Al taster panecha mimeni, al tat be'af avdecha, ezrati hayita, al titsheni ve'al ta'azveni Elohei yish'i.

Do not hide Your face from me; do not thrust aside Your servant in anger; You have ever been my help. Do not forsake me, do not abandon me, O God, my deliverer.

כִּי־אָבִי וְאִמִּי עֲזָבוּנִי וַיהוָה יַאַסְפֵנִי׃

Ki avi ve'imi azavuni, vaAdonai ya'asfeni.

Though my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will take me in.

הוֹרֵנִי יְהוָה דַּרְכֶּךָ וּנְחֵנִי בְּאֹרַח מִישׁוֹר לְמַעַן שׁוֹרְרָי׃

Horeni Adonai darkecha, uncheni be'orach mishor lema'an shorerai.

Show me Your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my watchful foes.

אַל־תִּתְּנֵנִי בְּנֶפֶשׁ צָרָי כִּי קָמוּ־בִי עֵדֵי־שֶׁקֶר וִיפֵחַ חָמָס׃

Al titneini benefesh tzarai, ki kamu vi edei sheker vifeach chamas.

Do not subject me to the will of my foes, for false witnesses and unjust accusers have appeared against me.

לוּלֵא הֶאֱמַנְתִּי לִרְאוֹת בְּטוּב־יְהוָה בְּאֶרֶץ חַיִּים׃

Lulei he'emanti lir'ot betuv Adonai be'eretz chayim.

Had I not the assurance that I would enjoy the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living...

קַוֵּה אֶל־יְהוָה חֲזַק וְיַאֲמֵץ לִבֶּךָ וְקַוֵּה אֶל־יְהוָה׃

Kaveh el Adonai, chazak veya'ametz libecha, vekaveh el Adonai.

Look to the LORD; be strong and of good courage! O look to the LORD!

לְדָוִד אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה אֶקְרָא צוּרִי אַל־תֶּחֱרַשׁ מִמֶּנִּי פֶּן־תֶּחֱשֶׁה מִמֶּנִּי וְנִמְשַׁלְתִּי עִם־יוֹרְדֵי בוֹר׃

LeDavid. Elecha Adonai ekra, tzuri al techerash mimeni, pen techeshe mimeni venimeshalti im yordei vor.

Of David. O LORD, I call to You; my rock, do not disregard me, for if You hold aloof from me, I shall be like those gone down into the Pit.

שְׁמַע קוֹל תַּחֲנוּנַי בְּשַׁוְּעִי אֵלֶיךָ בְּנָשְׂאִי יָדַי אֶל־דְּבִיר קָדְשֶׁךָ׃

Shema kol tachanunai beshav'i elecha, benose'i yadai el devir kodshecha.

Listen to my plea for mercy when I cry out to You, when I lift my hands toward Your inner sanctuary.

אַל־תִּמְשְׁכֵנִי עִם־רְשָׁעִים וְעִם־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן דֹּבְרֵי שָׁלוֹם עִם־רֵעֵיהֶם וְרָעָה בִּלְבָבָם׃

Al timshecheni im resha'im ve'im po'alei aven, dovrei shalom im re'eihem vera'a bilvavam.

Do not count me with the wicked and evildoers who profess goodwill toward their fellows while malice is in their heart.

תֶּן־לָהֶם כְּפָעֳלָם וּכְרֹעַ מַעַלְלֵיהֶם כְּמַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵיהֶם תֵּן לָהֶם הָשֵׁב גְּמוּלָם לָהֶם׃

Ten lahem kefo'olam uchero'a ma'aleleihem, kema'aseh yedeihem ten lahem, hashev gemulam lahem.

Pay them according to their deeds, their malicious acts; according to their handiwork pay them, give them their deserts.

כִּי לֹא יָבִינוּ אֶל־פְּעֻלֹּת יְהוָה וְאֶל־מַעֲשֵׂה יָדָיו יֶהֶרְסֵם וְלֹא יִבְנֵם׃

Ki lo yavinu el pe'ulot Adonai ve'el ma'aseh yadav, yeharsem velo yivnem.

For they do not consider the LORD's deeds or His handiwork. May He tear them down, never to rebuild them!

בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה כִּי־שָׁמַע קוֹל תַּחֲנוּנָי׃

Baruch Adonai ki shama kol tachanunai.

Blessed is the LORD, for He listens to my plea for mercy.

יְהוָה עֻזִּי וּמָגִנִּי בּוֹ בָטַח לִבִּי וְנֶעֱזָרְתִּי וַיַּעֲלֹז לִבִּי וּמִשִּׁירִי אֲהוֹדֶנּוּ׃

Adonai uzi umaginni, bo vatach libi vene'ezarti, vaya'aloz libi umishiri ahodenu.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him. I was helped, and my heart exulted, so I will glorify Him with my song.

יְהוָה עֹז־לָמוֹ וּמָעוֹז יְשׁוּעוֹת מְשִׁיחוֹ הוּא׃

Adonai oz lamo, uma'oz yeshu'ot meshicho hu.

The LORD is their strength; He is a stronghold for the deliverance of His anointed.

הוֹשִׁיעָה אֶת־עַמֶּךָ וּבָרֵךְ אֶת־נַחֲלָתֶךָ וּרְעֵם וְנַשְּׂאֵם עַד־הָעוֹלָם׃

Hoshi'a et amecha uvarech et nachalatecha, ur'em venase'em ad ha'olam.

Deliver Your people and bless Your inheritance; tend them and sustain them forever.

מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד הָבוּ לַיהוָה בְּנֵי אֵלִים הָבוּ לַיהוָה כָּבוֹד וָעֹז׃

Mizmor leDavid. Havu laAdonai benei elim, havu laAdonai kavod va'oz.

A psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O divine beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

הָבוּ לַיהוָה כְּבוֹד שְׁמוֹ הִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַיהוָה בְּהַדְרַת־קֹדֶשׁ׃

Havu laAdonai kevod shemo, hishtachavu laAdonai behadrat kodesh.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory of His name; bow down to the LORD, majestic in holiness.

קוֹל יְהוָה עַל־הַמָּיִם אֵל־הַכָּבוֹד הִרְעִים יְהוָה עַל־מַיִם רַבִּים׃

Kol Adonai al hamayim, El hakavod hir'im, Adonai al mayim rabim.

The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over the mighty waters.

קוֹל־יְהוָה בַּכֹּחַ קוֹל יְהוָה בֶּהָדָר׃

Kol Adonai bako'ach, kol Adonai behadar.

The voice of the LORD is power; the voice of the LORD is majesty;

קוֹל יְהוָה שֹׁבֵר אֲרָזִים וַיְשַׁבֵּר יְהוָה אֶת־אַרְזֵי הַלְּבָנוֹן׃

Kol Adonai shover arazim, vayeshaber Adonai et arzei haLevanon.

the voice of the LORD breaks cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

וַיַּרְקִידֵם כְּמוֹ־עֵגֶל לְבָנוֹן וְשִׂרְיֹן כְּמוֹ בֶן־רְאֵמִים׃

Vayarkidem kemo egel, Levanon veSiryon kemo ven re'emim.

He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, Sirion, like a young wild ox.

קוֹל־יְהוָה חֹצֵב לַהֲבוֹת אֵשׁ׃

Kol Adonai chotzev lahavot esh.

The voice of the LORD kindles flames of fire;

קוֹל יְהוָה יָחִיל מִדְבָּר יָחִיל יְהוָה מִדְבַּר קָדֵשׁ׃

Kol Adonai yachil midbar, yachil Adonai midbar Kadesh.

the voice of the LORD convulses the wilderness; the LORD convulses the wilderness of Kadesh;

קוֹל יְהוָה יְחוֹלֵל אַיָּלוֹת וַיֶּחֱשֹׂף יְעָרוֹת וּבְהֵיכָלוֹ כֻּלּוֹ אֹמֵר כָּבוֹד׃

Kol Adonai yecholel ayalot vayechesof ye'arot, uveheichalo kulo omer kavod.

the voice of the LORD causes hinds to calve, and strips forests bare; while in His temple all say "Glory!"

יְהוָה לַמַּבּוּל יָשָׁב וַיֵּשֶׁב יְהוָה מֶלֶךְ לְעוֹלָם׃

Adonai lamabul yashav, vayeshev Adonai Melech le'olam.

The LORD sat enthroned at the Flood; the LORD sits enthroned, king forever.

יְהוָה עֹז לְעַמּוֹ יִתֵּן יְהוָה יְבָרֵךְ אֶת־עַמּוֹ בַשָּׁלוֹם׃

Adonai oz le'amo yiten, Adonai yevarech et amo vashalom.

May the LORD grant strength to His people; may the LORD bestow on His people wellbeing.

מִזְמוֹר שִׁיר־חֲנֻכַּת הַבַּיִת לְדָוִד׃

Mizmor shir chanukat habayit leDavid.

A psalm of David. A song for the dedication of the House.

אֲרוֹמִמְךָ יְהוָה כִּי דִלִּיתָנִי וְלֹא־שִׂמַּחְתָּ אֹיְבַי לִי׃

Aromimcha Adonai ki dilitani, velo simachta oyvai li.

I extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, and not let my enemies rejoice over me.

יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי שִׁוַּעְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ וַתִּרְפָּאֵנִי׃

Adonai Elohai shivati elecha vatirpa'eni.

O LORD, my God, I cried out to You, and You healed me.

יְהוָה הֶעֱלִיתָ מִן־שְׁאוֹל נַפְשִׁי חִיִּיתַנִי מיורדי־ [מִיָּרְדִי־] בוֹר׃

Adonai he'elita min she'ol nafshi, chiyitani miyordi vor.

O LORD, You brought me up from Sheol, preserved me from going down into the Pit.

זַמְּרוּ לַיהוָה חֲסִידָיו וְהוֹדוּ לְזֵכֶר קָדְשׁוֹ׃

Zamru laAdonai chasidav, vehodu lezecher kodsho.

O you faithful of the LORD, sing to Him, and praise His holy name.

כִּי רֶגַע בְּאַפּוֹ חַיִּים בִּרְצוֹנוֹ בָּעֶרֶב יָלִין בֶּכִי וְלַבֹּקֶר רִנָּה׃

Ki rega be'apo, chayim birtzono, ba'erev yalin bechi, velaboker rina.

For He is angry but a moment, and when He is pleased there is life. One may lie down weeping at nightfall; but at dawn there are shouts of joy.

וַאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי בְשַׁלְוִי בַּל־אֶמּוֹט לְעוֹלָם׃

Va'ani amarti veshalvi bal emot le'olam.

When I was untroubled, I thought, "I shall never be shaken,"

יְהוָה בִּרְצוֹנְךָ הֶעֱמַדְתָּה לְהַרְרִי עֹז הִסְתַּרְתָּ פָנֶיךָ הָיִיתִי נִבְהָל׃

Adonai birtzonicha he'emadeta leharri oz, histarta fanecha hayiti nivhal.

for You, O LORD, when You were pleased, made me stand firm as a mighty mountain; when You hid Your face, I was terrified.

אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה אֶקְרָא וְאֶל־אֲדֹנָי אֶתְחַנָּן׃

Elecha Adonai ekra, ve'el Adonai etchanan.

I called to You, O LORD; to my Lord I made appeal,

מַה־בֶּצַע בְּדָמִי בְּרִדְתִּי אֶל־שָׁחַת הֲיוֹדְךָ עָפָר הֲיַגִּיד אֲמִתֶּךָ׃

Ma betza bedami beridti el shachat? Hayodcha afar, hayagid amitecha?

"What is to be gained from my death, from my descent into the Pit? Can dust praise You? Can it declare Your faithfulness?

שְׁמַע־יְהוָה וְחָנֵּנִי יְהוָה הֱיֵה־עֹזֵר לִי׃

Shema Adonai vechaneni, Adonai heyeh ozer li.

Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me; O LORD, be my helper!"

הָפַכְתָּ מִסְפְּדִי לְמָחוֹל לִי פִּתַּחְתָּ שַׂקִּי וַתְּאַזְּרֵנִי שִׂמְחָה׃

Hafachta mispedi lemachol li, pitachta saki vate'azreni simcha.

You turned my lament into dancing, You undid my sackcloth and girded me with joy,

לְמַעַן יְזַמֶּרְךָ כָבוֹד וְלֹא יִדֹּם יְהוָה אֱלֹהַי לְעוֹלָם אוֹדֶךָּ׃

Lema'an yezamercha chavod velo yidom, Adonai Elohai le'olam odeka.

that [my] whole being might sing hymns to You endlessly; O LORD my God, I will praise You forever.
