תהילים 22

לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל־אַיֶּלֶת הַשַּׁחַר מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד׃

Lamnatzei'ach al ayelet hashachar, mizmor leDavid.

For the leader; on ayelet hashachar. A psalm of David.

אֵלִי אֵלִי לָמָה עֲזַבְתָּנִי רָחוֹק מִישׁוּעָתִי דִּבְרֵי שַׁאֲגָתִי׃

Eli Eli lama azavtani, rachok mishu'ati divrei sha'agati.

My God, my God, why have You abandoned me; why so far from delivering me and from my anguished roaring?

אֱלֹהַי אֶקְרָא יוֹמָם וְלֹא תַעֲנֶה וְלַיְלָה וְלֹא־דֻמִיָּה לִי׃

Elohai ekra yomam velo ta'aneh, velayla velo dumiya li.

My God, I cry by day—You answer not; by night, and have no respite.

וְאַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ יוֹשֵׁב תְּהִלּוֹת יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

Ve'ata kadosh, yoshev tehilot Yisrael.

But You are the Holy One, enthroned upon the praises of Israel.

בְּךָ בָּטְחוּ אֲבֹתֵינוּ בָּטְחוּ וַתְּפַלְּטֵמוֹ׃

Becha batchu avoteinu, batchu vatfaletemo.

In You our fathers trusted; they trusted, and You rescued them.

אֵלֶיךָ זָעֲקוּ וְנִמְלָטוּ בְּךָ בָטְחוּ וְלֹא־בוֹשׁוּ׃

Elecha za'aku venimlatu, becha vatchu velo voshu.

To You they cried out and they escaped; in You they trusted and were not disappointed.

וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא־אִישׁ חֶרְפַּת אָדָם וּבְזוּי עָם׃

Ve'anochi tola'at velo ish, cherpat adam uvzui am.

But I am a worm, less than human; scorned by men, despised by people.

כָּל־רֹאַי יַלְעִגוּ לִי יַפְטִירוּ בְשָׂפָה יָנִיעוּ רֹאשׁ׃

Kol ro'ai yal'igu li, yaftiru vesafa yani'u rosh.

All who see me mock me; they curl their lips, they shake their heads.

גֹּל אֶל־יְהוָה יְפַלְּטֵהוּ יַצִּילֵהוּ כִּי חָפֵץ בּוֹ׃

Gol el Adonai yefaltehu, yatzilehu ki chafetz bo.

"Let him commit himself to the LORD; let Him rescue him, let Him save him, for He is pleased with him."

כִּי־אַתָּה גֹחִי מִבָּטֶן מַבְטִיחִי עַל־שְׁדֵי אִמִּי׃

Ki ata gochi mibaten, mavtichi al shedei imi.

You drew me from the womb, made me secure at my mother's breast.

עָלֶיךָ הָשְׁלַכְתִּי מֵרָחֶם מִבֶּטֶן אִמִּי אֵלִי אָתָּה׃

Alecha hashlachti merachem, mibeten imi Eli ata.

I became Your charge at birth; from my mother's womb You have been my God.

אַל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי כִּי־צָרָה קְרוֹבָה כִּי־אֵין עוֹזֵר׃

Al tirchak mimeni ki tzara kerova, ki ein ozer.

Do not be far from me, for trouble is near, and there is none to help.

סְבָבוּנִי פָּרִים רַבִּים אַבִּירֵי בָשָׁן כִּתְּרוּנִי׃

Sevavuni parim rabim, abirei Vashan kitruni.

Many bulls surround me, mighty ones of Bashan encircle me.

פָּצוּ עָלַי פִּיהֶם אַרְיֵה טֹרֵף וְשֹׁאֵג׃

Patzu alai pihem, arye toref vesho'eg.

They open their mouths at me like tearing, roaring lions.

כַּמַּיִם נִשְׁפַּכְתִּי וְהִתְפָּרְדוּ כָּל־עַצְמוֹתָי הָיָה לִבִּי כַּדּוֹנָג נָמֵס בְּתוֹךְ מֵעָי׃

Kamayim nishpachti vehitparedu kol atzmotai, haya libi kadonag names betoch me'ai.

My life ebbs away; all my bones are disjointed; my heart is like wax, melting within me.

יָבֵשׁ כַּחֶרֶשׂ כֹּחִי וּלְשׁוֹנִי מֻדְבָּק מַלְקוֹחָי וְלַעֲפַר־מָוֶת תִּשְׁפְּתֵנִי׃

Yavesh kacheres kochi, ulshoni mudbak malkochai, vela'afar mavet tishpeteni.

My vigor dries up like a shard; my tongue cleaves to my palate; You commit me to the dust of death.

כִּי סְבָבוּנִי כְּלָבִים עֲדַת מְרֵעִים הִקִּיפוּנִי כָּאֲרִי יָדַי וְרַגְלָי׃

Ki sevavuni kelavim, adat mere'im hikifuni, ka'ari yadai veraglai.

Dogs surround me; a pack of evil ones closes in on me, like lions [they maul] my hands and feet.

אֲסַפֵּר כָּל־עַצְמוֹתָי הֵמָּה יַבִּיטוּ יִרְאוּ־בִי׃

Asaper kol atzmotai, hema yabitu yir'u vi.

I can count all my bones; they stare and gloat over me.

יְחַלְּקוּ בְגָדַי לָהֶם וְעַל־לְבוּשִׁי יַפִּילוּ גוֹרָל׃

Yechalku vegadai lahem, ve'al levushi yapilu goral.

They divide my clothes among themselves, casting lots for my garments.

וְאַתָּה יְהוָה אַל־תִּרְחָק אֱיָלוּתִי לְעֶזְרָתִי חוּשָׁה׃

Ve'ata Adonai al tirchak, eyaluti le'ezrati chusha.

But You, O LORD, do not be far; my strength, hasten to my aid!

הַצִּילָה מֵחֶרֶב נַפְשִׁי מִיַּד־כֶּלֶב יְחִידָתִי׃

Hatzila mecherev nafshi, miyad kelev yechidati.

Save my life from the sword, my precious life from the clutches of a dog.

הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי מִפִּי אַרְיֵה וּמִקַּרְנֵי רֵמִים עֲנִיתָנִי׃

Hoshi'eni mipi arye, umikarnei remim anitani.

Deliver me from the mouth of a lion; from the horns of wild oxen rescue me.

אֲסַפְּרָה שִׁמְךָ לְאֶחָי בְּתוֹךְ קָהָל אֲהַלְלֶךָּ׃

Asapera shimcha le'echai, betoch kahal ahaleleka.

I will tell of Your name to my brethren, praise You in the midst of the congregation.

יִרְאֵי יְהוָה הַלְלוּהוּ כָּל־זֶרַע יַעֲקֹב כַּבְּדוּהוּ וְגוּרוּ מִמֶּנּוּ כָּל־זֶרַע יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

Yir'ei Adonai haleluhu, kol zera Ya'akov kab'duhu, veguru mimenu kol zera Yisrael.

You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you offspring of Jacob, honor Him! Be in dread of Him, all you offspring of Israel!

כִּי לֹא־בָזָה וְלֹא שִׁקַּץ עֱנוּת עָנִי וְלֹא־הִסְתִּיר פָּנָיו מִמֶּנּוּ וּבְשַׁוְּעוֹ אֵלָיו שָׁמֵעַ׃

Ki lo vaza velo shiketz enut ani, velo histir panav mimenu, uveshav'o elav shame'a.

For He did not scorn, He did not spurn the plea of the lowly; He did not hide His face from him; when he cried out to Him, He listened.

מֵאִתְּךָ תְהִלָּתִי בְּקָהָל רָב נְדָרַי אֲשַׁלֵּם נֶגֶד יְרֵאָיו׃

Me'itcha tehilati bekahal rav, nedarai ashalem neged yere'av.

Because of You I offer praise in the great congregation; I pay my vows in the presence of His worshipers.

יֹאכְלוּ עֲנָוִים וְיִשְׂבָּעוּ יְהַלְלוּ יְהוָה דֹּרְשָׁיו יְחִי לְבַבְכֶם לָעַד׃

Yochlu anavim veyisba'u, yehalelu Adonai dorshav, yechi levavechem la'ad.

Let the lowly eat and be satisfied; let all who seek the LORD praise Him. May your hearts be revived forever!

יִזְכְּרוּ וְיָשֻׁבוּ אֶל־יְהוָה כָּל־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְפָנֶיךָ כָּל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹת גּוֹיִם׃

Yizkeru veyashuvu el Adonai kol afsei aretz, veyishtachavu lefanecha kol mishpechot goyim.

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD; all the families of nations shall bow down before You.

כִּי לַיהוָה הַמְּלוּכָה וּמֹשֵׁל בַּגּוֹיִם׃

Ki laAdonai hamelucha, umoshel bagoyim.

For kingship is the LORD's; He rules the nations.

אָכְלוּ וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ כָּל־דִּשְׁנֵי־אֶרֶץ לְפָנָיו יִכְרְעוּ כָּל־יוֹרְדֵי עָפָר וְנַפְשׁוֹ לֹא חִיָּה׃

Achlu vayishtachavu kol dishnei eretz, lefanav yichre'u kol yordei afar, venafesho lo chiya.

All the fat ones of the earth shall eat and bow down; all who go down to the dust shall kneel before Him, whose own life has not survived.

זֶרַע יַעַבְדֶנּוּ יְסֻפַּר לַאדֹנָי לַדּוֹר׃

Zera ya'avdenu, yesupar laAdonai lador.

Offspring shall serve Him; the Lord's fame shall be proclaimed to the generation

יָבֹאוּ וְיַגִּידוּ צִדְקָתוֹ לְעַם נוֹלָד כִּי עָשָׂה׃

Yavo'u veyagidu tzidkato le'am nolad ki asa.

to come; they shall tell of His beneficence to people yet to be born, for He has acted.
