הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה קִרְאוּ בִשְׁמוֹ הוֹדִיעוּ בָעַמִּים עֲלִילוֹתָיו׃

Hodu laAdonai kir'u vishmo, hodi'u va'amim alilotav.

Praise the LORD; call on His name; proclaim His deeds among the peoples.

שִׁירוּ־לוֹ זַמְּרוּ־לוֹ שִׂיחוּ בְּכָל־נִפְלְאוֹתָיו׃

Shiru lo zamru lo, sichu bechol nifl'otav.

Sing praises to Him; speak of all His wondrous acts.

3

הִתְהַלְלוּ בְּשֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ יִשְׂמַח לֵב מְבַקְשֵׁי יְהוָה׃

Hithalelu beshem kodsho, yismach lev mevakshei Adonai.

Exult in His holy name; let all who seek the LORD rejoice.

דִּרְשׁוּ יְהוָה וְעֻזּוֹ בַּקְּשׁוּ פָנָיו תָּמִיד׃

Dirshu Adonai ve'uzo, bakshu fanav tamid.

Turn to the LORD, to His might; seek His presence constantly.

זִכְרוּ נִפְלְאוֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה מֹפְתָיו וּמִשְׁפְּטֵי־פִיו׃

Zichru nifl'otav asher asa, moftav umishpetei fiv.

Remember the wonders He has done, His portents and the judgments He has pronounced,

זֶרַע אַבְרָהָם עַבְדּוֹ בְּנֵי יַעֲקֹב בְּחִירָיו׃

Zera Avraham avdo, benei Ya'akov bechirav.

O offspring of Abraham, His servant, O descendants of Jacob, His chosen ones.

7

הוּא יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ בְּכָל־הָאָרֶץ מִשְׁפָּטָיו׃

Hu Adonai Eloheinu, bechol ha'aretz mishpatav.

He is the LORD our God; His judgments are throughout the earth.

8

זָכַר לְעוֹלָם בְּרִיתוֹ דָּבָר צִוָּה לְאֶלֶף דּוֹר׃

Zachar le'olam berito, davar tziva le'elef dor.

He is ever mindful of His covenant, the promise He gave for a thousand generations,

9

אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת אֶת־אַבְרָהָם וּשְׁבוּעָתוֹ לְיִשְׂחָק׃

Asher karat et Avraham, ushvu'ato leYitzchak.

that He made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,

10

וַיַּעֲמִידֶהָ לְיַעֲקֹב לְחֹק לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרִית עוֹלָם׃

Vaya'amideha leYa'akov lechok, leYisrael berit olam.

and confirmed in a decree for Jacob, for Israel, as an eternal covenant,

לֵאמֹר לְךָ אֶתֵּן אֶת־אֶרֶץ־כְּנָעַן חֶבֶל נַחֲלַתְכֶם׃

Lemor lecha eten et eretz Kena'an, chevel nachalatchem.

saying, 'To you I will give the land of Canaan as your allotted heritage.'

בִּהְיוֹתָם מְתֵי מִסְפָּר כִּמְעַט וְגָרִים בָּהּ׃

Bihyotam metei mispar, kim'at vegarim bah.

When they were few in number, a mere handful, sojourning there,

13

וַיִּתְהַלְּכוּ מִגּוֹי אֶל־גּוֹי מִמַּמְלָכָה אֶל־עַם אַחֵר׃

Vayithalchu migoy el goy, mimamlachah el am acher.

wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another,

14

לֹא־הִנִּיחַ אָדָם לְעָשְׁקָם וַיּוֹכַח עֲלֵיהֶם מְלָכִים׃

Lo hini'ach adam le'oshkam, vayochach aleihem melachim.

He allowed no one to oppress them, and reproved kings on their account,

15

אַל־תִּגְּעוּ בִמְשִׁיחָי וְלִנְבִיאַי אַל־תָּרֵעוּ׃

Al tig'u vimshichai, velinvi'ai al tare'u.

'Do not touch My anointed ones; do not harm My prophets.'

16

וַיִּקְרָא רָעָב עַל־הָאָרֶץ כָּל־מַטֵּה־לֶחֶם שָׁבָר׃

Vayikra ra'av al ha'aretz, kol mateh lechem shavar.

He called down a famine on the land, destroyed every staff of bread.

17

שָׁלַח לִפְנֵיהֶם אִישׁ לְעֶבֶד נִמְכַּר יוֹסֵף׃

Shalach lifneihem ish, le'eved nimkar Yosef.

He sent a man before them, Joseph, sold into slavery.

18

עִנּוּ בַכֶּבֶל רַגְלוֹ בַּרְזֶל בָּאָה נַפְשׁוֹ׃

Inu vachevel raglo, barzel ba'a nafsho.

His feet were subjected to fetters; an iron collar was put on his neck.

19

עַד־עֵת בֹּא־דְבָרוֹ אִמְרַת יְהוָה צְרָפָתְהוּ׃

Ad et bo devaro, imrat Adonai tzerafathu.

Until his prediction came true the decree of the LORD purged him.

20

שָׁלַח מֶלֶךְ וַיַּתִּירֵהוּ מֹשֵׁל עַמִּים וַיְפַתְּחֵהוּ׃

Shalach melech vayatirehu, moshel amim vayeftachehu.

The king sent to have him freed; the ruler of nations released him.

21

שָׂמוֹ אָדוֹן לְבֵיתוֹ וּמֹשֵׁל בְּכָל־קִנְיָנוֹ׃

Samo adon leveito, umoshel bechol kinyano.

He made him the lord of his household, empowered him over all his possessions,

22

לֶאְסֹר שָׂרָיו בְּנַפְשׁוֹ וּזְקֵנָיו יְחַכֵּם׃

Le'esor sarav benafsho, uzkeinav yechakem.

to discipline his princes at will, to teach his elders wisdom.

23

וַיָּבֹא יִשְׂרָאֵל מִצְרָיִם וְיַעֲקֹב גָּר בְּאֶרֶץ־חָם׃

Vayavo Yisrael Mitzrayim, veYa'akov gar be'eretz Cham.

Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

24

וַיֶּפֶר אֶת־עַמּוֹ מְאֹד וַיַּעֲצִמֵהוּ מִצָּרָיו׃

Vayefer et amo me'od, vaya'atzimehu mitzarav.

He made His people very fruitful, more numerous than their foes.

25

הָפַךְ לִבָּם לִשְׂנֹא עַמּוֹ לְהִתְנַכֵּל בַּעֲבָדָיו׃

Hafach libam lisno amo, lehitnakel ba'avadav.

He changed their heart to hate His people, to plot against His servants.

26

שָׁלַח מֹשֶׁה עַבְדּוֹ אַהֲרֹן אֲשֶׁר בָּחַר־בּוֹ׃

Shalach Moshe avdo, Aharon asher bachar bo.

He sent His servant Moses, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.

27

שָׂמוּ־בָם דִּבְרֵי אֹתוֹתָיו וּמֹפְתִים בְּאֶרֶץ חָם׃

Samu vam divrei ototav, umoftim be'eretz Cham.

They performed His signs among them, His wonders, in the land of Ham.

28

שָׁלַח חֹשֶׁךְ וַיַּחְשִׁךְ וְלֹא־מָרוּ אֶת־דְּבָרוֹ׃

Shalach choshech vayachshich, velo maru et devaro.

He sent darkness; it was very dark; did they not defy His word?

29

הָפַךְ אֶת־מֵימֵיהֶם לְדָם וַיָּמֶת אֶת־דְּגָתָם׃

Hafach et meimeihem ledam, vayamet et degatam.

He turned their waters into blood and killed their fish.

30

שָׁרַץ אַרְצָם צְפַרְדְּעִים בְּחַדְרֵי מַלְכֵיהֶם׃

Sharatz artzam tzefarde'im, bechadrei malcheihem.

Their land teemed with frogs, even in the chambers of their king.

31

אָמַר וַיָּבֹא עָרֹב כִּנִּים בְּכָל־גְּבוּלָם׃

Amar vayavo arov, kinim bechol gevulam.

He spoke, and swarms of insects came, lice, throughout their country.

32

נָתַן גִּשְׁמֵיהֶם בָּרָד אֵשׁ לֶהָבוֹת בְּאַרְצָם׃

Natan gishmeihem barad, esh lehavot be'artzam.

He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

33

וַיַּךְ גַּפְנָם וּתְאֵנָתָם וַיְשַׁבֵּר עֵץ גְּבוּלָם׃

Vayach gafnam ute'enatam, vayeshaber etz gevulam.

He struck their vines and fig trees, broke down the trees of their country.

34

אָמַר וַיָּבֹא אַרְבֶּה וְיֶלֶק וְאֵין מִסְפָּר׃

Amar vayavo arbeh veyelek ve'ein mispar.

He spoke, and locusts came, grasshoppers without number.

35

וַיֹּאכַל כָּל־עֵשֶׂב בְּאַרְצָם וַיֹּאכַל פְּרִי אַדְמָתָם׃

Vayochal kol esev be'artzam, vayochal pri admatam.

They devoured every green thing in the land; they consumed the produce of the soil.

36

וַיַּךְ כָּל־בְּכוֹר בְּאַרְצָם רֵאשִׁית לְכָל־אוֹנָם׃

Vayach kol bechor be'artzam, reshit lechol onam.

He struck down every firstborn in the land, the first fruits of their vigor.

37

וַיּוֹצִיאֵם בְּכֶסֶף וְזָהָב וְאֵין בִּשְׁבָטָיו כּוֹשֵׁל׃

Vayotzi'em bechesef vezahav, ve'ein bishvatav koshel.

He led Israel out with silver and gold; none among their tribes faltered.

38

שָׂמַח מִצְרַיִם בְּצֵאתָם כִּי־נָפַל פַּחְדָּם עֲלֵיהֶם׃

Samach Mitzrayim betzetam, ki nafal pachdam aleihem.

Egypt rejoiced when they left, for dread of Israel had fallen upon them.

39

פָּרַשׂ עָנָן לְמָסָךְ וְאֵשׁ לְהָאִיר לָיְלָה׃

Paras anan lemasach, ve'esh leha'ir layla.

He spread a cloud for a cover, and fire to light up the night.

40

שָׁאַל וַיָּבֵא שְׂלָו וְלֶחֶם שָׁמַיִם יַשְׂבִּיעֵם׃

Sha'al vayave selav, velechem shamayim yasbi'em.

They asked and He brought them quail, and satisfied them with food from heaven.

41

פָּתַח צוּר וַיָּזוּבוּ מָיִם הָלְכוּ בַּצִּיּוֹת נָהָר׃

Patach tzur vayazuvu mayim, halchu batziyot nahar.

He opened a rock so that water gushed forth; it flowed as a stream in the parched land.

42

כִּי־זָכַר אֶת־דְּבַר קָדְשׁוֹ אֶת־אַבְרָהָם עַבְדּוֹ׃

Ki zachar et devar kodsho, et Avraham avdo.

For He remembered His sacred promise to His servant Abraham.

43

וַיּוֹצִא עַמּוֹ בְשָׂשׂוֹן בְּרִנָּה אֶת־בְּחִירָיו׃

Vayotzi amo vesason, berinah et bechirav.

He led His people out in joy, His chosen ones with glad song.

44

וַיִּתֵּן לָהֶם אַרְצוֹת גּוֹיִם וַעֲמַל לְאֻמִּים יִירָשׁוּ׃

Vayiten lahem artzot goyim, va'amal le'umim yirashu.

He gave them the lands of nations; they inherited the wealth of peoples,

45

בַּעֲבוּר יִשְׁמְרוּ חֻקָּיו וְתוֹרֹתָיו יִנְצֹרוּ הַלְלוּ־יָהּ׃

Ba'avur yishmeru chukav, vetorotav yintzoru, Halelu Yah.

that they might keep His laws and observe His teachings. Hallelujah.
