May it be Your will, LORD our God and God of our ancestors, Who chose David His servant and his offspring after him, and Who chose songs and praises, that You turn with mercy to the recitation of the Psalms that I shall read, as if David the King, peace be upon him, recited them himself—may his merit protect us. May the merit of the verses of Psalms, the merit of their words and letters, their vowels and cantillation marks, and the Divine Names formed from the initial and final letters, stand for us to atone for our sins, iniquities, and transgressions; to cut down tyrants and destroy all the thorns and thistles surrounding the Supernal Rose; and to unite the bride of youth with her beloved in love, brotherhood, and friendship. From there may an abundance flow to us for soul, spirit, and breath—to purify us from our iniquities, forgive our sins, and atone for our transgressions, just as You forgave David who recited these Psalms before You, as it is written: "The LORD has also removed your sin; you shall not die." Do not take us from this world before our time, and may we merit long, good, and rectified lives, so that we may repair what we have corrupted. May the merit of King David, peace be upon him, protect us and shield us, that You extend Your patience until we return to You in complete repentance. From the treasury of unearned gifts, grace us, as it is written: "I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy." Just as we recite song before You in this world, so may we merit to recite before You, LORD our God, song and praise in the World to Come. Through the recitation of Psalms, may the Rose of Sharon be awakened to sing with a pleasant voice in joy and gladness; the glory of Lebanon is given to it, splendor and majesty in the House of our God, speedily in our days, Amen Selah. Come, let us sing to the LORD; let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving; let us shout to Him with songs of praise.
