תהילים פרק פ״ט

מַשְׂכִּיל לְאֵיתָן הָאֶזְרָחִי׃

Maskil le'Eitan ha'Ezrachi.

A maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.

חַסְדֵי יְהוָה עוֹלָם אָשִׁירָה לְדֹר וָדֹר אוֹדִיעַ אֱמוּנָתְךָ בְּפִי׃

Chasdei Adonai olam ashira, ledor vador odia emunatcha befi.

I will sing of the LORD's steadfast love forever; to all generations I will proclaim Your faithfulness with my mouth.

כִּי־אָמַרְתִּי עוֹלָם חֶסֶד יִבָּנֶה שָׁמַיִם תָּכִן אֱמוּנָתְךָ בָהֶם׃

Ki amarti olam chesed yibane, shamayim tachin emunatcha vahem.

For I declare, 'Your steadfast love is established forever; in the heavens You set Your faithfulness firm.'

כָּרַתִּי בְרִית לִבְחִירִי נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי לְדָוִד עַבְדִּי׃

Karati verit livchiri, nishbati leDavid avdi.

'I have made a covenant with My chosen one; I have sworn to My servant David:

עַד־עוֹלָם אָכִין זַרְעֶךָ וּבָנִיתִי לְדֹר־וָדוֹר כִּסְאֲךָ סֶלָה׃

Ad olam achin zar'echa, uvaniti ledor vador kis'acha sela.

I will establish your offspring forever, I will build your throne for all generations.' Selah.

וְיוֹדוּ שָׁמַיִם פִּלְאֲךָ יְהוָה אַף־אֱמוּנָתְךָ בִּקְהַל קְדֹשִׁים׃

Veyodu shamayim pil'acha Adonai, af emunatcha bikhal kedoshim.

The heavens praise Your wonders, O LORD, Your faithfulness, too, in the assembly of the holy ones.

כִּי מִי בַשַּׁחַק יַעֲרֹךְ לַיהוָה יִדְמֶה לַיהוָה בִּבְנֵי אֵלִים׃

Ki mi vashachak ya'aroch laAdonai, yidme laAdonai bivnei elim.

For who in the skies can equal the LORD, can compare with the LORD among the divine beings?

אֵל נַעֲרָץ בְּסוֹד־קְדֹשִׁים רַבָּה וְנוֹרָא עַל־כָּל־סְבִיבָיו׃

El na'aratz besod kedoshim raba, venora al kol sevivav.

A God greatly dreaded in the council of the holy ones, held in awe by all around Him.

יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי צְבָאוֹת מִי־כָמוֹךָ חֲסִין יָהּ וֶאֱמוּנָתְךָ סְבִיבוֹתֶיךָ׃

Adonai Elohei Tzeva'ot mi chamocha, chasin Yah ve'emunatcha sevivotecha.

O LORD, God of hosts, who is mighty like You, O LORD? Your faithfulness surrounds You.

אַתָּה מוֹשֵׁל בְּגֵאוּת הַיָּם בְּשׂוֹא גַלָּיו אַתָּה תְשַׁבְּחֵם׃

Ata moshel bege'ut hayam, beso galav Ata teshabchem.

You rule the swelling of the sea; when its waves surge, You still them.

אַתָּה דִכִּאתָ כֶחָלָל רָהַב בִּזְרוֹעַ עֻזְּךָ פִּזַּרְתָּ אוֹיְבֶיךָ׃

Ata dikita kechalal Rahav, bizro'a uzcha pizarta oyvecha.

You crushed Rahab like a corpse; with Your mighty arm You scattered Your enemies.

לְךָ שָׁמַיִם אַף־לְךָ אָרֶץ תֵּבֵל וּמְלֹאָהּ אַתָּה יְסַדְתָּם׃

Lecha shamayim af lecha aretz, tevel umlo'a Ata yesadtam.

The heavens are Yours, the earth too; the world and all it holds—You established them.

צָפוֹן וְיָמִין אַתָּה בְרָאתָם תָּבוֹר וְחֶרְמוֹן בְּשִׁמְךָ יְרַנֵּנוּ׃

Tzafon veyamin Ata veratam, Tavor veChermom beshimcha yeranenu.

North and south—You created them; Tabor and Hermon sing forth Your name.

לְךָ זְרוֹעַ עִם־גְּבוּרָה תָּעֹז יָדְךָ תָּרוּם יְמִינֶךָ׃

Lecha zero'a im gevura, ta'oz yadcha tarum yeminecha.

Yours is an arm endowed with might; Your hand is strong; Your right hand, exalted.

צֶדֶק וּמִשְׁפָּט מְכוֹן כִּסְאֶךָ חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת יְקַדְּמוּ פָנֶיךָ׃

Tzedek umishpat mechon kis'echa, chesed ve'emet yekadmu fanecha.

Righteousness and justice are the base of Your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness stand before You.

אַשְׁרֵי הָעָם יֹדְעֵי תְרוּעָה יְהוָה בְּאוֹר־פָּנֶיךָ יְהַלֵּכוּן׃

Ashrei ha'am yod'ei teru'a, Adonai be'or panecha yehalechun.

Happy is the people who know the joyful shout; they walk in the light of Your presence, O LORD.

בְּשִׁמְךָ יְגִילוּן כָּל־הַיּוֹם וּבְצִדְקָתְךָ יָרוּמוּ׃

Beshimcha yegilun kol hayom, uvetzidkatcha yarumu.

They exult in Your name all day long; they are exalted through Your righteousness.

כִּי־תִפְאֶרֶת עֻזָּמוֹ אָתָּה וּבִרְצֹנְךָ תָּרוּם קַרְנֵנוּ׃

Ki tif'eret uzamo Ata, uvirtzoncha tarum karnenu.

For You are their strength in which they glory; our horn is exalted through Your favor.

כִּי לַיהוָה מָגִנֵּנוּ וְלִקְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל מַלְכֵּנוּ׃

Ki laAdonai maginenu, velKdosh Yisrael malkenu.

For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.

אָז דִּבַּרְתָּ בְחָזוֹן לַחֲסִידֶיךָ וַתֹּאמֶר שִׁוִּיתִי עֵזֶר עַל־גִּבּוֹר הֲרִימוֹתִי בָחוּר מֵעָם׃

Az dibarta vechazon lachasidecha vatomer, shiviti ezer al gibor, harimoti bachur me'am.

Then You spoke to Your faithful ones in a vision and said, 'I have exalted one chosen from the people; I have set a crown upon a warrior.

מָצָאתִי דָּוִד עַבְדִּי בְּשֶׁמֶן קָדְשִׁי מְשַׁחְתִּיו׃

Matzati David avdi, beshemen kodshi meshachtiv.

I have found David, My servant; I have anointed him with My sacred oil.

אֲשֶׁר יָדִי תִּכּוֹן עִמּוֹ אַף־זְרוֹעִי תְאַמְּצֶנּוּ׃

Asher yadi tikon imo, af zero'i te'amtzenu.

My hand shall be constantly with him, and My arm shall strengthen him.

לֹא־יַשִּׁיא אוֹיֵב בּוֹ וּבֶן־עַוְלָה לֹא יְעַנֶּנּוּ׃

Lo yashi oyev bo, uven avla lo ye'anenu.

No enemy shall oppress him, no villain afflict him.

וְכַתּוֹתִי מִפָּנָיו צָרָיו וּמְשַׂנְאָיו אֶגּוֹף׃

Vechatoti mipanav tzarav, umesan'av egof.

I will crush his foes before him; I will strike down those who hate him.

וֶאֱמוּנָתִי וְחַסְדִּי עִמּוֹ וּבִשְׁמִי תָּרוּם קַרְנוֹ׃

Ve'emunati vechasdi imo, uvishmi tarum karno.

My faithfulness and steadfast love shall be with him; his horn shall be exalted through My name.

וְשַׂמְתִּי בַיָּם יָדוֹ וּבַנְּהָרוֹת יְמִינוֹ׃

Vesamti vayam yado, uvaneharot yemino.

I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.

הוּא יִקְרָאֵנִי אָבִי אָתָּה אֵלִי וְצוּר יְשׁוּעָתִי׃

Hu yikra'eni Avi Ata, Eli vetzur yeshu'ati.

He shall cry to Me, 'You are my Father, my God, the rock of my deliverance.'

אַף־אָנִי בְּכוֹר אֶתְּנֵהוּ עֶלְיוֹן לְמַלְכֵי־אָרֶץ׃

Af ani bechor etnehu, elyon lemalchei aretz.

I will appoint him firstborn, highest of the kings of the earth.

לְעוֹלָם אֶשְׁמָר־לוֹ חַסְדִּי וּבְרִיתִי נֶאֱמֶנֶת לוֹ׃

Le'olam eshmor lo chasdi, uveriti ne'emenet lo.

I will maintain My steadfast love for him forever; My covenant with him shall endure.

וְשַׂמְתִּי לָעַד זַרְעוֹ וְכִסְאוֹ כִּימֵי שָׁמָיִם׃

Vesamti la'ad zar'o, vechis'o kimei shamayim.

I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens last.

אִם־יַעַזְבוּ בָנָיו תּוֹרָתִי וּבְמִשְׁפָּטַי לֹא יֵלֵכוּן׃

Im ya'azvu vanav torati, uvemishpatai lo yelechun.

If his sons forsake My teaching and do not follow My rules,

אִם־חֻקֹּתַי יְחַלֵּלוּ וּמִצְוֺתַי לֹא יִשְׁמֹרוּ׃

Im chukotai yechalelu, umitzvotai lo yishmoru.

if they violate My laws and do not observe My commands,

וּפָקַדְתִּי בְשֵׁבֶט פִּשְׁעָם וּבִנְגָעִים עֲוֺנָם׃

Ufakadti veshevet pish'am, uvinga'im avonam.

I will punish their transgression with the rod, their iniquity with plagues.

וְחַסְדִּי לֹא־אָפִיר מֵעִמּוֹ וְלֹא־אֲשַׁקֵּר בֶּאֱמוּנָתִי׃

Vechasdi lo afir me'imo, velo ashaker be'emunati.

But I will not take away My steadfast love from him, or be false to My faithfulness.

לֹא־אֲחַלֵּל בְּרִיתִי וּמוֹצָא שְׂפָתַי לֹא אֲשַׁנֶּה׃

Lo achalel beriti, umotza sfatai lo ashane.

I will not violate My covenant, or change what I have uttered.

אַחַת נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי בְקָדְשִׁי אִם־לְדָוִד אֲכַזֵּב׃

Achat nishbati vekodshi, im leDavid achazev.

Once and for all I have sworn by My holiness; I will not be false to David.

זַרְעוֹ לְעוֹלָם יִהְיֶה וְכִסְאוֹ כַשֶּׁמֶשׁ נֶגְדִּי׃

Zar'o le'olam yihye, vechis'o chashemesh negdi.

His line shall continue forever, his throne, as the sun before Me,

כְּיָרֵחַ יִכּוֹן עוֹלָם וְעֵד בַּשַּׁחַק נֶאֱמָן סֶלָה׃

Keyare'ach yikon olam, ve'ed bashachak ne'eman sela.

as the moon, established forever, an enduring witness in the sky.' Selah.

וְאַתָּה זָנַחְתָּ וַתִּמְאָס הִתְעַבַּרְתָּ עִם־מְשִׁיחֶךָ׃

Ve'Ata zanachta vatim'as, hit'abarta im meshichecha.

Yet You have rejected, spurned, and become enraged at Your anointed.

נֵאַרְתָּה בְּרִית עַבְדֶּךָ חִלַּלְתָּ לָאָרֶץ נִזְרוֹ׃

Ne'arta berit avdecha, chilalta la'aretz nizro.

You have repudiated the covenant with Your servant; You have dragged his crown through the mud.

פָּרַצְתָּ כָל־גְּדֵרֹתָיו שַׂמְתָּ מִבְצָרָיו מְחִתָּה׃

Paratzta kol gederotav, samta mivtzarav mechita.

You have breached all his defenses, You have laid his strongholds in ruins.

שַׁסֻּהוּ כָּל־עֹבְרֵי דָרֶךְ הָיָה חֶרְפָּה לִשְׁכֵנָיו׃

Shasuhu kol ovrei darech, haya cherpa lishchenav.

All who pass by plunder him; he is a reproach to his neighbors.

הֲרִימוֹתָ יְמִין צָרָיו הִשְׂמַחְתָּ כָּל־אוֹיְבָיו׃

Harimota yemin tzarav, hismachta kol oyvav.

You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries; You have made all his enemies rejoice.

אַף־תָּשִׁיב צוּר חַרְבּוֹ וְלֹא הֲקֵימֹתוֹ בַּמִּלְחָמָה׃

Af tashiv tzur charbo, velo hakemoto bamilchama.

You have turned back the edge of his sword, and have not sustained him in battle.

הִשְׁבַּתָּ מִטְּהָרוֹ וְכִסְאוֹ לָאָרֶץ מִגַּרְתָּה׃

Hishbata mitoharo, vechis'o la'aretz migarta.

You have put an end to his splendor; You have hurled his throne to the ground.

הִקְצַרְתָּ יְמֵי עֲלוּמָיו הֶעֱטִיתָ עָלָיו בּוּשָׁה סֶלָה׃

Hiktzarta yemei alumav, he'etita alav busha sela.

You have cut short the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah.

עַד־מָה יְהוָה תִּסָּתֵר לָנֶצַח תִּבְעַר כְּמוֹ־אֵשׁ חֲמָתֶךָ׃

Ad ma Adonai tisater lanetzach, tiv'ar kemo esh chamatecha.

How long, O LORD; will You hide forever? Will Your fury blaze like fire?

זְכָר־אֲנִי מֶה־חָלֶד עַל־מַה־שָּׁוְא בָּרָאתָ כָל־בְּנֵי־אָדָם׃

Zechor ani me chaled, al ma shav barata kol benei adam.

Remember how fleeting my life is; why should You have created every human being in vain?

מִי גֶבֶר יִחְיֶה וְלֹא יִרְאֶה־מָּוֶת יְמַלֵּט נַפְשׁוֹ מִיַּד־שְׁאוֹל סֶלָה׃

Mi gever yichye velo yir'e mavet, yemalet nafsho miyad she'ol sela.

What man can live and not see death, can save himself from the clutches of Sheol? Selah.

אַיֵּה חֲסָדֶיךָ הָרִאשֹׁנִים אֲדֹנָי נִשְׁבַּעְתָּ לְדָוִד בֶּאֱמוּנָתֶךָ׃

Aye chasadecha harishonim Adonai, nishbata leDavid be'emunatecha.

Where are Your former mercies, O Lord, which You swore to David in Your faithfulness?

זְכֹר אֲדֹנָי חֶרְפַּת עֲבָדֶיךָ שְׂאֵתִי בְחֵיקִי כָּל־רַבִּים עַמִּים׃

Zechor Adonai cherpat avadecha, se'eti vecheiki kol rabim amim.

Remember, O Lord, the abuse of Your servants, that I bear in my bosom [the insults of] all the many peoples,

אֲשֶׁר חֵרְפוּ אוֹיְבֶיךָ יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר חֵרְפוּ עִקְּבוֹת מְשִׁיחֶךָ׃

Asher cherfu oyvecha Adonai, asher cherfu ikvot meshichecha.

how Your enemies, O LORD, have hurled insults, have insulted Your anointed at every step.

בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן׃

Baruch Adonai le'olam, amen ve'amen.

Blessed is the LORD forever. Amen and Amen.
