תהילים פרק ק״ז

הֹדוּ לַיהוָה כִּי־טוֹב כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃

Hodu laAdonai ki tov, ki le'olam chasdo.

Praise the LORD for He is good; His steadfast love is eternal.

יֹאמְרוּ גְּאוּלֵי יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר גְּאָלָם מִיַּד־צָר׃

Yomru ge'ulei Adonai, asher ge'alam miyad tzar.

Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, those He redeemed from the foe,

וּמֵאֲרָצוֹת קִבְּצָם מִמִּזְרָח וּמִמַּעֲרָב מִצָּפוֹן וּמִיָּם׃

Ume'aratzot kibtzam, mimizrach umima'arav, mitzafon umiyam.

whom He gathered in from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.

תָּעוּ בַמִּדְבָּר בִּישִׁימוֹן דָּרֶךְ עִיר מוֹשָׁב לֹא מָצָאוּ׃

Ta'u vamidbar bishimon darech, ir moshav lo matza'u.

Some lost their way in the wilderness, in the wasteland; they found no settled place.

רְעֵבִים גַּם־צְמֵאִים נַפְשָׁם בָּהֶם תִּתְעַטָּף׃

Re'evim gam tzeme'im, nafsham bahem tit'ataf.

Hungry and thirsty, their spirit failed.

וַיִּצְעֲקוּ אֶל־יְהוָה בַּצַּר לָהֶם מִמְּצוּקוֹתֵיהֶם יַצִּילֵם׃

Vayitz'aku el Adonai batzar lahem, mimetzukoteihem yatzilem.

In their distress they cried to the LORD, and He rescued them from their troubles.

וַיַּדְרִיכֵם בְּדֶרֶךְ יְשָׁרָה לָלֶכֶת אֶל־עִיר מוֹשָׁב׃

Vayadrichem bederech yeshara, lalechet el ir moshav.

He led them by a direct route to a settled place.

יוֹדוּ לַיהוָה חַסְדּוֹ וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו לִבְנֵי אָדָם׃

Yodu laAdonai chasdo, venifl'otav livnei adam.

Let them praise the LORD for His steadfast love, His wondrous deeds for mankind;

כִּי־הִשְׂבִּיעַ נֶפֶשׁ שֹׁקֵקָה וְנֶפֶשׁ רְעֵבָה מִלֵּא־טוֹב׃

Ki hisbi'a nefesh shokeka, venefesh re'eva mile tov.

for He has satisfied the thirsty, filled the hungry with all good things.

יֹשְׁבֵי חֹשֶׁךְ וְצַלְמָוֶת אֲסִירֵי עֳנִי וּבַרְזֶל׃

Yoshvei choshech vetzalmavet, asirei oni uvarzel.

Some lived in darkness and gloom, prisoners of misery and iron chains,

כִּי־הִמְרוּ אִמְרֵי־אֵל וַעֲצַת עֶלְיוֹן נָאָצוּ׃

Ki himru imrei El, va'atzat Elyon na'atzu.

because they defied the word of God, spurned the counsel of the Most High.

וַיַּכְנַע בֶּעָמָל לִבָּם כָּשְׁלוּ וְאֵין עֹזֵר׃

Vayachna ve'amal libam, kashlu ve'ein ozer.

He humbled their hearts through hardship; they stumbled with none to help.

וַיִּזְעֲקוּ אֶל־יְהוָה בַּצַּר לָהֶם מִמְּצֻקוֹתֵיהֶם יוֹשִׁיעֵם׃

Vayiz'aku el Adonai batzar lahem, mimetzukoteihem yoshi'em.

In their distress they cried to the LORD, and He saved them from their troubles.

יוֹצִיאֵם מֵחֹשֶׁךְ וְצַלְמָוֶת וּמוֹסְרוֹתֵיהֶם יְנַתֵּק׃

Yotzi'em mechoshech vetzalmavet, umoseroteihem yenatek.

He brought them out of darkness and gloom, broke their bonds asunder.

יוֹדוּ לַיהוָה חַסְדּוֹ וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו לִבְנֵי אָדָם׃

Yodu laAdonai chasdo, venifl'otav livnei adam.

Let them praise the LORD for His steadfast love, His wondrous deeds for mankind.

כִּי־שִׁבַּר דַּלְתוֹת נְחֹשֶׁת וּבְרִיחֵי בַרְזֶל גִּדֵּעַ׃

Ki shibar daltot nechoshet, uvrichei varzel gidea.

For He shattered gates of bronze, cut bars of iron apart.

אֱוִלִים מִדֶּרֶךְ פִּשְׁעָם וּמֵעֲוֺנֹתֵיהֶם יִתְעַנּוּ׃

Evilim miderech pish'am, ume'avonoteihem yit'anu.

Fools, because of their sinful way, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

כָּל־אֹכֶל תְּתַעֵב נַפְשָׁם וַיַּגִּיעוּ עַד־שַׁעֲרֵי מָוֶת׃

Kol ochel teta'ev nafsham, vayagi'u ad sha'arei mavet.

All food was loathsome to them; they came near to the gates of death.

וַיִּזְעֲקוּ אֶל־יְהוָה בַּצַּר לָהֶם מִמְּצֻקוֹתֵיהֶם יוֹשִׁיעֵם׃

Vayiz'aku el Adonai batzar lahem, mimetzukoteihem yoshi'em.

In their distress they cried to the LORD, and He saved them from their troubles.

יִשְׁלַח דְּבָרוֹ וְיִרְפָּאֵם וִימַלֵּט מִשְּׁחִיתוֹתָם׃

Yishlach devaro veyirpa'em, vimalet mishechitotam.

He sent forth His word and healed them; He saved them from the pit.

יוֹדוּ לַיהוָה חַסְדּוֹ וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו לִבְנֵי אָדָם׃

Yodu laAdonai chasdo, venifl'otav livnei adam.

Let them praise the LORD for His steadfast love, His wondrous deeds for mankind.

וְיִזְבְּחוּ זִבְחֵי תוֹדָה וִיסַפְּרוּ מַעֲשָׂיו בְּרִנָּה׃

Veyizbechu zivchei toda, visapru ma'asav berina.

Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, tell His deeds in joyful song.

יוֹרְדֵי הַיָּם בָּאֳנִיּוֹת עֹשֵׂי מְלָאכָה בְּמַיִם רַבִּים׃

Yordei hayam ba'oniyot, osei melacha bemayim rabim.

Others go down to the sea in ships, ply their trade in mighty waters;

הֵמָּה רָאוּ מַעֲשֵׂי יְהוָה וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו בִּמְצוּלָה׃

Hema ra'u ma'asei Adonai, venifl'otav bimetzula.

they have seen the works of the LORD, His wondrous deeds in the deep.

וַיֹּאמֶר וַיַּעֲמֵד רוּחַ סְעָרָה וַתְּרוֹמֵם גַּלָּיו׃

Vayomer vaya'amed ru'ach se'ara, vatromem galav.

He spoke and raised a storm wind that made the waves surge.

יַעֲלוּ שָׁמַיִם יֵרְדוּ תְהוֹמוֹת נַפְשָׁם בְּרָעָה תִתְמוֹגָג׃

Ya'alu shamayim yerdu tehomot, nafsham bera'a titmogag.

Mounting up to the heaven, plunging down to the depths, their courage melted in misery.

יָחוֹגּוּ וְיָנוּעוּ כַּשִּׁכּוֹר וְכָל־חָכְמָתָם תִּתְבַּלָּע׃

Yachogu veyanu'u kashikor, vechol chochmatam titbala.

They reeled and staggered like a drunken man; all their skill was to no avail.

וַיִּצְעֲקוּ אֶל־יְהוָה בַּצַּר לָהֶם וּמִמְּצוּקֹתֵיהֶם יוֹצִיאֵם׃

Vayitz'aku el Adonai batzar lahem, umimetzukoteihem yotzi'em.

In their distress they cried to the LORD, and He brought them out of their troubles.

יָקֵם סְעָרָה לִדְמָמָה וַיֶּחֱשׁוּ גַּלֵּיהֶם׃

Yakem se'ara lidmama, vayechashu galeihem.

He reduced the storm to a whisper; the waves were stilled.

וַיִּשְׂמְחוּ כִי־יִשְׁתֹּקוּ וַיַּנְחֵם אֶל־מְחוֹז חֶפְצָם׃

Vayismechu chi yishtoku, vayanchem el mechoz cheftzam.

They rejoiced when the waves grew still, and He brought them to their desired haven.

יוֹדוּ לַיהוָה חַסְדּוֹ וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו לִבְנֵי אָדָם׃

Yodu laAdonai chasdo, venifl'otav livnei adam.

Let them praise the LORD for His steadfast love, His wondrous deeds for mankind.

וִירֹמְמוּהוּ בִּקְהַל־עָם וּבְמוֹשַׁב זְקֵנִים יְהַלְלוּהוּ׃

Viromemuhu bikhal am, uvmoshav zekenim yehaluhu.

Let them exalt Him in the congregation of the people, praise Him in the council of elders.

יָשֵׂם נְהָרוֹת לְמִדְבָּר וּמֹצָאֵי מַיִם לְצִמָּאוֹן׃

Yasem neharot lemidbar, umotza'ei mayim letzima'on.

He turns rivers into a wilderness, springs of water into thirsty ground,

אֶרֶץ פְּרִי לִמְלֵחָה מֵרָעַת יֹשְׁבֵי בָהּ׃

Eretz pri limlecha, mera'at yoshvei vah.

fruitful land into a salt marsh, because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.

יָשֵׂם מִדְבָּר לַאֲגַם־מַיִם וְאֶרֶץ צִיָּה לְמֹצָאֵי מָיִם׃

Yasem midbar la'agam mayim, ve'eretz tziya lemotza'ei mayim.

He turns a wilderness into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.

וַיּוֹשֶׁב שָׁם רְעֵבִים וַיְכוֹנְנוּ עִיר מוֹשָׁב׃

Vayoshev sham re'evim, vayechonenu ir moshav.

There He settles the hungry; they build a place to settle in.

וַיִּזְרְעוּ שָׂדוֹת וַיִּטְּעוּ כְרָמִים וַיַּעֲשׂוּ פְּרִי תְבוּאָה׃

Vayizre'u sadot vayit'u cheramim, vaya'asu pri tevu'a.

They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest.

וַיְבָרְכֵם וַיִּרְבּוּ מְאֹד וּבְהֶמְתָּם לֹא יַמְעִיט׃

Vayevarchem vayirbu me'od, uvehemtam lo yam'it.

He blesses them and they increase greatly; He does not let their cattle decrease.

וַיִּמְעֲטוּ וַיָּשֹׁחוּ מֵעֹצֶר רָעָה וְיָגוֹן׃

Vayim'atu vayashochu me'otzer ra'a veyagon.

When they are diminished and bowed low through oppression, misery and sorrow,

שֹׁפֵךְ בּוּז עַל־נְדִיבִים וַיַּתְעֵם בְּתֹהוּ לֹא־דָרֶךְ׃

Shofech buz al nedivim, vayat'em betohu lo darech.

He pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes.

וַיְשַׂגֵּב אֶבְיוֹן מֵעוֹנִי וַיָּשֶׂם כַּצֹּאן מִשְׁפָּחוֹת׃

Vaysagev evyon me'oni, vayasem katzon mishpachot.

But He raises the needy from misery and increases their families like flocks.

יִרְאוּ יְשָׁרִים וְיִשְׂמָחוּ וְכָל־עַוְלָה קָפְצָה פִּיהָ׃

Yir'u yesharim veyismachu, vechol avla kafetza piha.

The upright see it and rejoice; all wrongdoing shuts its mouth.

מִי־חָכָם וְיִשְׁמָר־אֵלֶּה וְיִתְבּוֹנְנוּ חַסְדֵי יְהוָה׃

Mi chacham veyishmar ele, veyitbonenu chasdei Adonai.

The wise man will take note of these things; he will consider the LORD's steadfast love.
