תהילים פרק ק״ו

הַלְלוּ־יָהּ הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה כִּי־טוֹב כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃

Halelu Yah, hodu laAdonai ki tov, ki le'olam chasdo.

Hallelujah. Praise the LORD, for He is good; His steadfast love endures forever.

מִי יְמַלֵּל גְּבוּרוֹת יְהוָה יַשְׁמִיעַ כָּל־תְּהִלָּתוֹ׃

Mi yemalel gevurot Adonai, yashmi'a kol tehilato.

Who can tell the mighty acts of the LORD, proclaim all His praises?

אַשְׁרֵי שֹׁמְרֵי מִשְׁפָּט עֹשֵׂה צְדָקָה בְכָל־עֵת׃

Ashrei shomrei mishpat, oseh tzedaka bechol et.

Happy are those who act justly, who do right at all times.

זָכְרֵנִי יְהוָה בִּרְצוֹן עַמֶּךָ פָּקְדֵנִי בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ׃

Zachreni Adonai birtzon amecha, pokdeni bishu'atecha.

Remember me, O LORD, when You favor Your people; take note of me when You deliver them,

לִרְאוֹת בְּטוֹבַת בְּחִירֶיךָ לִשְׂמֹחַ בְּשִׂמְחַת גּוֹיֶךָ לְהִתְהַלֵּל עִם־נַחֲלָתֶךָ׃

Lir'ot betovat bechirecha, lismo'ach besimchat goyecha, lehithalel im nachalatecha.

that I may enjoy the prosperity of Your chosen ones, share the joy of Your nation, glory in Your very own people.

חָטָאנוּ עִם־אֲבוֹתֵינוּ הֶעֱוִינוּ הִרְשָׁעְנוּ׃

Chatanu im avoteinu, he'evinu hirsha'nu.

We have sinned like our forefathers; we have gone astray, done wrong.

אֲבוֹתֵינוּ בְמִצְרַיִם לֹא־הִשְׂכִּילוּ נִפְלְאוֹתֶיךָ לֹא זָכְרוּ אֶת־רֹב חֲסָדֶיךָ וַיַּמְרוּ עַל־יָם בְּיַם־סוּף׃

Avoteinu veMitzrayim lo hiskilu nifl'otecha, lo zachru et rov chasadecha, vayamru al yam beYam Suf.

Our forefathers in Egypt did not perceive Your wonders; they did not remember Your abundant love, but rebelled at the sea, at the Sea of Reeds.

וַיּוֹשִׁיעֵם לְמַעַן שְׁמוֹ לְהוֹדִיעַ אֶת־גְּבוּרָתוֹ׃

Vayoshi'em lema'an shemo, lehodi'a et gevurato.

Yet He saved them for His name's sake, to make known His mighty power.

וַיִּגְעַר בְּיַם־סוּף וַיֶּחֱרָב וַיּוֹלִיכֵם בַּתְּהֹמוֹת כַּמִּדְבָּר׃

Vayig'ar beYam Suf vayecherav, vayolichem batehomot kamidbar.

He rebuked the Sea of Reeds; it became dry. He led them through the deep as through a wilderness.

וַיּוֹשִׁיעֵם מִיַּד שׂוֹנֵא וַיִּגְאָלֵם מִיַּד אוֹיֵב׃

Vayoshi'em miyad sone, vayig'alem miyad oyev.

He delivered them from the foe, redeemed them from the enemy.

וַיְכַסּוּ־מַיִם צָרֵיהֶם אֶחָד מֵהֶם לֹא נוֹתָר׃

Vaychasu mayim tzareihem, echad mehem lo notar.

Water covered their adversaries; not one of them was left.

וַיַּאֲמִינוּ בִדְבָרָיו יָשִׁירוּ תְּהִלָּתוֹ׃

Vaya'aminu vidvarav, yashiru tehilato.

Then they believed His word; they sang His praises.

מִהֲרוּ שָׁכְחוּ מַעֲשָׂיו לֹא־חִכּוּ לַעֲצָתוֹ׃

Miharu shachechu ma'asav, lo chiku la'atzato.

But they soon forgot His deeds; they did not wait for His counsel.

וַיִּתְאַוּוּ תַאֲוָה בַּמִּדְבָּר וַיְנַסּוּ־אֵל בִּישִׁימוֹן׃

Vayit'avu ta'ava bamidbar, vaynasu El bishimon.

They were seized with craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the wasteland.

וַיִּתֵּן לָהֶם שֶׁאֱלָתָם וַיְשַׁלַּח רָזוֹן בְּנַפְשָׁם׃

Vayiten lahem she'elatam, vayshalach razon benafcham.

He gave them what they asked for, then made them waste away.

וַיְקַנְאוּ לְמֹשֶׁה בַּמַּחֲנֶה לְאַהֲרֹן קְדוֹשׁ יְהוָה׃

Vaykan'u leMoshe bamachane, le'Aharon kedosh Adonai.

They were jealous of Moses in the camp, and of Aaron, the holy one of the LORD.

תִּפְתַּח־אֶרֶץ וַתִּבְלַע דָּתָן וַתְּכַס עַל־עֲדַת אֲבִירָם׃

Tiftach eretz vatibla Datan, vatchas al adat Aviram.

The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan, closed over the party of Abiram.

וַתִּבְעַר־אֵשׁ בַּעֲדָתָם לֶהָבָה תְּלַהֵט רְשָׁעִים׃

Vativ'ar esh ba'adatam, lehava telahet resha'im.

A fire blazed among their party, a flame burned the wicked.

יַעֲשׂוּ־עֵגֶל בְּחֹרֵב וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְמַסֵּכָה׃

Ya'asu egel beChorev, vayishtachavu lemasecha.

They made a calf at Horeb and bowed down to a molten image.

וַיָּמִירוּ אֶת־כְּבוֹדָם בְּתַבְנִית שׁוֹר אֹכֵל עֵשֶׂב׃

Vayamiru et kevodam betavnit shor ochel esev.

They exchanged their glory for the image of a bull that feeds on grass.

שָׁכְחוּ אֵל מוֹשִׁיעָם עֹשֶׂה גְדֹלוֹת בְּמִצְרָיִם׃

Shachechu El moshi'am, oseh gedolot beMitzrayim.

They forgot God who saved them, who performed great deeds in Egypt,

נִפְלָאוֹת בְּאֶרֶץ חָם נוֹרָאוֹת עַל־יַם־סוּף׃

Nifl'aot be'eretz Cham, nora'ot al Yam Suf.

wondrous deeds in the land of Ham, awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.

וַיֹּאמֶר לְהַשְׁמִידָם לוּלֵי מֹשֶׁה בְחִירוֹ עָמַד בַּפֶּרֶץ לְפָנָיו לְהָשִׁיב חֲמָתוֹ מֵהַשְׁחִית׃

Vayomer lehashmidam, lulei Moshe vechiro amad baperetz lefanav, lehashiv chamato mehashchit.

He would have destroyed them had not Moses, His chosen one, stood in the breach before Him to avert His destructive anger.

וַיִּמְאֲסוּ בְּאֶרֶץ חֶמְדָּה לֹא־הֶאֱמִינוּ לִדְבָרוֹ׃

Vayim'asu be'eretz chemda, lo he'eminu lidvaro.

They rejected the desirable land, and did not believe His word.

וַיֵּרָגְנוּ בְאָהֳלֵיהֶם לֹא שָׁמְעוּ בְּקוֹל יְהוָה׃

Vayeragnu ve'ohaleihem, lo sham'u bekol Adonai.

They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD.

וַיִּשָּׂא יָדוֹ לָהֶם לְהַפִּיל אוֹתָם בַּמִּדְבָּר׃

Vayisa yado lahem, lehapil otam bamidbar.

So He raised His hand in oath to make them fall in the wilderness,

וּלְהַפִּיל זַרְעָם בַּגּוֹיִם וּלְזָרוֹתָם בָּאֲרָצוֹת׃

Ulehapil zar'am bagoyim, ulezarotam ba'aratzot.

to scatter their offspring among the nations and disperse them through the lands.

וַיִּצָּמְדוּ לְבַעַל פְּעוֹר וַיֹּאכְלוּ זִבְחֵי מֵתִים׃

Vayitzamdu leva'al Pe'or, vayochlu zivchei metim.

They attached themselves to Baal-Peor, ate sacrifices offered to the dead.

וַיַּכְעִיסוּ בְּמַעַלְלֵיהֶם וַתִּפְרָץ־בָּם מַגֵּפָה׃

Vayach'isu bema'aleleihem, vatifrotz bam magefa.

They provoked anger by their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.

וַיַּעֲמֹד פִּינְחָס וַיְפַלֵּל וַתֵּעָצַר הַמַּגֵּפָה׃

Vaya'amod Pinchas vayfalel, vate'atzar hamagefa.

Phineas stepped forth and intervened, and the plague ceased.

וַתֵּחָשֶׁב לוֹ לִצְדָקָה לְדֹר וָדֹר עַד־עוֹלָם׃

Vatechashev lo litzedaka, ledor vador ad olam.

It was reckoned to him as righteousness for all generations, to eternity.

וַיַּקְצִיפוּ עַל־מֵי מְרִיבָה וַיֵּרַע לְמֹשֶׁה בַּעֲבוּרָם׃

Vayaktzifu al mei Meriva, vayera leMoshe ba'avuram.

They provoked wrath at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered on their account,

כִּי־הִמְרוּ אֶת־רוּחוֹ וַיְבַטֵּא בִּשְׂפָתָיו׃

Ki himru et rucho, vayvate bisefatav.

because they rebelled against His spirit, so that he spoke rashly.

לֹא־הִשְׁמִידוּ אֶת־הָעַמִּים אֲשֶׁר אָמַר יְהוָה לָהֶם׃

Lo hishmidu et ha'amim, asher amar Adonai lahem.

They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had told them,

וַיִּתְעָרְבוּ בַגּוֹיִם וַיִּלְמְדוּ מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם׃

Vayit'arvu vagoyim, vayilmedu ma'aseihem.

but mingled with the nations and learned their ways.

וַיַּעַבְדוּ אֶת־עֲצַבֵּיהֶם וַיִּהְיוּ לָהֶם לְמוֹקֵשׁ׃

Vaya'avdu et atzabeihem, vayihyu lahem lemokesh.

They worshiped their idols, which became a snare for them.

וַיִּזְבְּחוּ אֶת־בְּנֵיהֶם וְאֶת־בְּנוֹתֵיהֶם לַשֵּׁדִים׃

Vayizbechu et beneihem ve'et benoteihem lashedim.

They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.

וַיִּשְׁפְּכוּ דָם נָקִי דַּם־בְּנֵיהֶם וּבְנוֹתֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר זִבְּחוּ לַעֲצַבֵּי כְנָעַן וַתֶּחֱנַף הָאָרֶץ בַּדָּמִים׃

Vayishpechu dam naki, dam beneihem uvenoteihem, asher zibchu la'atzabei Chena'an, vatechenaf ha'aretz badamim.

They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; the land was polluted with bloodguilt.

וַיִּטְמְאוּ בְמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם וַיִּזְנוּ בְּמַעַלְלֵיהֶם׃

Vayitme'u vema'aseihem, vayiznu bema'aleleihem.

They became impure through their acts, went astray in their deeds.

וַיִּחַר־אַף יְהוָה בְּעַמּוֹ וַיְתָעֵב אֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹ׃

Vayichar af Adonai be'amo, vayta'ev et nachalato.

The LORD's anger blazed against His people, and He abhorred His inheritance.

וַיִּתְּנֵם בְּיַד־גּוֹיִם וַיִּמְשְׁלוּ בָהֶם שֹׂנְאֵיהֶם׃

Vayitenem beyad goyim, vayimshelu vahem son'eihem.

He handed them over to the nations; their foes ruled them.

וַיִּלְחָצוּם אוֹיְבֵיהֶם וַיִּכָּנְעוּ תַּחַת יָדָם׃

Vayilchatzum oyveihem, vayikan'u tachat yadam.

Their enemies oppressed them, and they were subdued under their power.

פְּעָמִים רַבּוֹת יַצִּילֵם וְהֵמָּה יַמְרוּ בַעֲצָתָם וַיָּמֹכּוּ בַּעֲוֺנָם׃

Pe'amim rabot yatzilem, vehema yamru ba'atzatam, vayamoku ba'avonam.

Many times He saved them, but they were rebellious in their counsel, so they sank low through their iniquity.

וַיַּרְא בַּצַּר לָהֶם בְּשָׁמְעוֹ אֶת־רִנָּתָם׃

Vayar batzar lahem, beshom'o et rinatam.

Yet He looked upon their distress when He heard their cry.

וַיִּזְכֹּר לָהֶם בְּרִיתוֹ וַיִּנָּחֵם כְּרֹב חֲסָדָיו׃

Vayizkor lahem berito, vayinachem kerov chasadav.

He was mindful of His covenant for their sake, and relented in accord with His abundant kindness.

וַיִּתֵּן אוֹתָם לְרַחֲמִים לִפְנֵי כָּל־שׁוֹבֵיהֶם׃

Vayiten otam lerachamim lifnei kol shoveihem.

He made all their captors show them mercy.

הוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְקַבְּצֵנוּ מִן־הַגּוֹיִם לְהֹדוֹת לְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁךָ לְהִשְׁתַּבֵּחַ בִּתְהִלָּתֶךָ׃

Hoshi'enu Adonai Eloheinu, vekabtzeinu min hagoyim, lehodot leshem kodshecha, lehishtabe'ach bitehilatecha.

Deliver us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, to praise Your holy name, to glory in Your praise.

בָּרוּךְ־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִן־הָעוֹלָם וְעַד הָעוֹלָם וְאָמַר כָּל־הָעָם אָמֵן הַלְלוּ־יָהּ׃

Baruch Adonai Elohei Yisrael min ha'olam ve'ad ha'olam, ve'amar kol ha'am amen, Halelu Yah.

Blessed is the LORD, God of Israel, from eternity to eternity. Let all the people say, 'Amen.' Hallelujah.
